DJ RYOWはこれまで数多くのラッパー達にそのトラックを提供し、J-Hip Hopの陰の立役者として、今まさに不動の地位を築きつつある。M.O.S.A.D.、モEモqual、AK-69、般若、MACCHO(OZROSAURUS)、RYUZOそして今は亡きTokona-X。その提供してきたアーティスト達の顔ぶれを見れば、彼の音楽がいかにHardでStreetに根ざしていて、かつ本物であるかが分かる。そのDJ RYOWがHard Coreという異質なバックグラウンドを持つTOMOKIYOと出会う事で新たな化学反応を起こしたプロデュース・ユニット、それがDJ RYOW & TOMOKIYO(GRAND BEATZ)である。今回のアルバムは昨年発売された前作「PROJECT DREAMS」同様、オリジナル音源ながらMIX CD的なストリート感覚を取り入れて作られている。また各楽曲での豪華な顔ぶれは、DELI、HI-D、般若、565、RYUZO、Anarchyなど、スキット的に収録されているSpecial Shoutに至まで現在のストリートシーンを牽引しているアーティストでがっちり固められている。中でもM.O.S.A.D.をはじめとするBALLERSクルー、AK-69、Phobia of Thugら名古屋勢との絡みでは相変わらずの強力ビックチューンを聴かせてくれている。今回のアルバムは、豪華なゲストラッパーが出演しているというだけでなく、これまでのひたすらDopeな名古屋アンダーグラウンド・サウンドが、全国のアーティストとの交流を通じて、またHip HopとHard Coreの融合を経て大きく変容を遂げようとしている所に最も大きな意義があると言える。それは名古屋から全国のアンダーグラウンドキングへと駆け上ったM.O.S.A.D.の代表曲でもある「Super Ball 2002」がDJ RYOW と TOMOKIYOの手によって「Super Ball 2006」として生まれ変わっていることにも象徴されている。名古屋Hip HopシーンはDJ RYOW & TOMOKIYO(GRAND BEATZ)という二人の才能によって、今後さらなる高みへ昇り続ける事だろう。
