5th ALBUM 「Back From The Damnation」から約1年半、待望のマニピュの新作はミニアルバムです。タイトルは「DEATH IN THE WILDERNESS」で5曲収録です。スピーディでメロディアス、そしてドラマティックな「男泣きガッツメタル」「ドラマティック・スラッシュ」路線はそのままに、より過激に、よりメロディアスに進歩した作品になっています。また今回は、ドラム:阿部 広(あべ ひろし)、ベース:松根 風子(まつね ふうこ)にメンバーチェンジし挑んだ意欲作です。派手ではないが正確にリズム/ボトムを支える二人の加入でバンドに安定感とスピード感が増しました。1.DobermanはMANIPULATED SLAVESらしいツインギターのハモりが美しい、ドラマティックでスピーディなメタル曲、2.Earth, Wind and FireはJ-ROCK的な分かりやすいコード進行とMANIPULATED SLAVESらしいツインギターのハモりとリズムでゴリ押しする曲、3.Aphrodite (Flame of Passion)は蔭山豊(G)が女性メタルバンドCarmine-Bに提供した楽曲、ツインベースドラムの過激なリズムでスピーディに攻める曲、4.Time to Dieは萩智洋(G)の泣きのギターなインスト、5.Hell Freezes OverはドラマティックでスピーディなMANIPULATED SLAVESらしい曲。1994年大阪で結成。デモ時代から国内アンダーグラウンドや海外での知名度が高く、CDデビュー後も精力的に活動。来日アーティストのオープニングする事も多く(ARCH ENEMY, Witchery, The HAUNTED, HOLY MOSES etc…)、日本のバンドには興味を示さないリスナーにも強くアピール。CDもコンスタントにリリース。5枚のフルアルバム、数種類のコンピレーションに参加。
