DEATH WORMは北海の地、札幌が生んだメタル・バンドです。札幌のバンドと言えばまず最初に挙がるのはFLATBACKERだと思います。彼らは後にEZOとして世界進出、札幌から世界へ発信した最初のメタル・バンドと言えます。その後も札幌からは優れたバンドが続々と登場。SABER TIGER、MAVERICK、NO MORE PAIN、NEGAROBO(ex.NIGAROBO)、RDX、SILVER BACK、FATIMA HILL、UBI-GUN、武尊.辺りは札幌以外の土地でも活躍した有名なメタル・バンドです。最近ではNONREM、BATTLE SHRINEのようなバンドも地道ながら着実に活動を行なっています。そんな中Dark REBELLION、RDX、CASE OF DOOMと言ったバンドの猛者達が集まり結成されたのがこのDEATH WORMです。彼らの音楽性を簡単に説明すると「デス・メタル」と言えます。しかし彼らは「デス・メタル」の中に「多彩」なテイストを封じ込めた音楽性が信条です。それはメンバー個々が好んで聴いている音楽を見ても分かります。ボーカルの丸山はNAPALM DEATH、CANNIBAL CORPSEのような典型的でオールド・スクールなデス・メタルを好み、以下、ギター&ボーカルの藤枝はMETALLICA、PANTERA、MR.BIG、ベースの志村はMUDVAYNE、MESHUGGAH、ドラムの齊藤はMANOWAR、BLACK SABBATH、TANK、VENOM…見事に好みが分かれています。つまり様々なメタルの要素を「デス・メタル」というジャンルに融合させたと言えます。この融合が個性&武器となり、既存のデス・メタル・バンドとは一線を画す事に成功しました。特に耳を惹くのはドライブ感溢れるドラム、そして一筋縄では語る事の出来ない独特のフレーズを醸し出すベース…このリズム隊がとにかく強烈です。勿論そこに核となるギター藤枝がピンでこなせる最大限のパフォーマンスを発揮し、Mr.デス・ボイスの丸山は熱き咆哮で畳み掛ける…この4人が揃えば「デス・メタル」の進化系…「ハイパー・デス・ロック」サウンドの完成です。北の怪獣「DEATH WORM」は今作を引っさげ全国各地で大暴れ間違い無し!今後ともDEATH WORMの暴れっぷりに是非ご注目の程宜しくお願い致します!!
