期待の若手ジャズ・バンド”KING COLUMBIA”約2年ぶり待望のニューアルバムリリース!!「FROM SWING TO PULSATING JAZZ FUNK GROOVE」アシッド・ジャズを経過したネオ・モッズが1970年代後半～1980年代半ばのジャズ・ファンク/フュージョンを現在進行形のダンス音楽として楽しむ、あの感じ。今回聴き所としては、「INTER CITY SWING」から即座に連想したのはディーン・ラッドランド(アシッド・ジャズ黎明期から活動する筋金入りのモッド・コンパイラー)が編んだジャズ・ファンク/フュージョン系のコンピレーション・アルバムが放つ、あの雰囲気。後半に山下達郎「高気圧ガール」のフレーズも顔を出す、極上の観光地ジャズ・ファンク。ローズの横揺れ、チキチキと細かいシンバル・ワークに心が躍る。夏真っ盛り、というよりはなにかイイことがありそうな小春日和に楽しみたい。お次はなんと布施明、昭和54年のカバー演目「君は薔薇より美しい」。作曲はミッキー吉野。アンディ・ウィリアムスやボビー・ダーリンが歌いそうな小粋なハネと揺れを持つゴキゲンなメロディをピアノ・トリオで調理。耳をとらえるのは手数の少ない重厚なベース。個人的にはホーン隊も交えた賑やかなバージョンも聴いてみたいところ。<プロフィール>2002年に結成したSWING/カリプソ楽団。大阪を拠点に活動中。2010年には、ファースト・アルバム『JUMP FOR JOY』をリリースし、各方面で好評を得る。アナログ盤も7インチで5枚発表し、コンピレイションCDやクラブDJのミックスCDなどにもそれらの楽曲が収録される。そして2011年FUJI ROCK FESTIVALにも出演。SQUARE ENIXのゲーム音楽リミックスCDシリーズの 『Cafe SQ』に「ジョニー・C・バット」で参加。その活動の幅が着実に広がりつつある期待の若手ジャズ・バンドである。
