Mobile Suit Z Gundam: A New Translation is the latest and perhaps the last work for Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. In this trilogy of movies, Tomino revisits the Universal Century and the events of the Gryps War in order to bring a new vision of the tragedy to the general audience and fans of Gundam. An endeavor of this proportion deserves an amazing soundtrack, and that's exactly what you get with this CD/DVD set. The music is an amazing array of the art that's truly behind the new movies and gives you a taste of the story and action of the Gryps War. Sadly, where the soundtracks to the other series and movies of the Gundam universe prosper, this one falls short. Indeed, the music delivered was fantastic, especially Gackt's, it's flaw is fundamental in that not enough of the music from the TV series is brought over. The sounding orchestra of the Zeta Gundam TV series are not present in this compilation, and for it's length (2 CDs), the music is actually rather limited in scope and variety, nothing like the soundtrack of the First Gundam movie trilogy. Though good on its own merits, this soundtrack collection lacks the essential quality of all UC Gundam music.
