信州安曇野を拠点に活動するベーシスト中島仁の初リーダー作は、日本を代表するヴィブラフォン奏者である赤松敏弘をプロデューサーに迎えた、同郷ミュージシャンとのピアノトリオによるオリジナル作品集。"Visionary"および" Another Vision"2枚のリーダーアルバムを通じて独自の世界観を追求する望月慎一郎(pf)、安ヶ川大樹トリオや西山瞳 NHORHM他、国内多数のミュージシャンから絶大な信頼を受けノンジャンルで活躍する橋本学(ds)とのトリオから紡ぎ出されるサウンドからは、ジャズのスピリットを継承しながらもアルバムタイトル"Pioggia"(雨)が暗示する静寂をまとった信州安曇野の風景を彷彿とさせる独自の美学が感じられる。また、ゲストとして赤松敏弘(Vib)が3曲、赤松の最新作『シノニム(Synonym)』にも参加の市原ひかり(tp,flh)が2曲で参加。モノクロームな世界に彩を添えている。今回中島の門出を祝して赤松が書き下ろした"North Plants"をはじめ、このアルバムのために書き下ろしたメンバー全員のオリジナル曲を中心に、ラルフ・タウナー、ケニー・ホイラーというECMサウンドを代表するアーティスト曲のカバー2曲を含む全9曲を収録。
