Description

Mamoru Oshii's legendary anime film "Ghost In The Shell" returns in a stunning new edition remastered by Mamoru Oshii himself. Revised so much as to warrant a "version 2.0" heading, the new edition of this film features newly-done CG cuts and complete digital remastering to prepare it for this amazing new Blu-ray release. Disc also features new recordings from the original cast, revised music from Kenji Kawai, and 6.1 channel sound created with the help of Skywalker Sound. Limited edition premium box also includes original version of the film, bonus disc with making-of footage, one newly recorded audio CD, and deluxe booklet (*Note: original version of the film the same as that packaged with the Blu-ray disc sold August 2007). Blu-ray specs: (Version 2.0) Doby TrueHD 6.1 channel sound with parts in Stereo Linear PCM. (Original Version) Linear PCM (Dolby Surround and stero) plus Dolby Digital (Dolby Surround). neolog GITS remake for the high definition era! 5

I always hesitated a bit to buy Ghost in the Shell on Blu-Ray because I thought the movie wouldn't look much better in high definition then it looks on standard DVD...
And suddenly out of nowhere came a remake, and this boxset got announced.
It includes 3 BD discs and an audio CD.
I watched both movies on the same day, so I could tell if the differences were huge or not, and I can say that they are! The 2.0 remake looks really nice in 1080P, and especially the audio parts have been renewed to Dolby True HD, while the old Ghost in the Shell movie is only two channels (to be precise it says Dolby Surround in the specs of the old movie, which is a bit outdated nowadays). Also the old movie looks grainy and washed out if you compare it directly to the 2.0 version. While the 2.0 version uses the whole screen, the old movie is shadow boxed if you watch it with overscan switched off (small black bars on all four sides). What I don't especially like are the newly inserted CG scenes, my personal opinion is that they are completely unnecessary.
The third disc 'Privilege Disc' includes staff interviews and other things.
Also included with my set was a film stripe bookmark, and a collectors card, which might both only have been included with the first press edition.
This is a really nice set, that also includes english subtitles. Perfect, don't hesitate to buy it!

neolog Ghost in the Shell 2.0 5

Awesome edition of legendary cyberpunk anime. About edition, it includes original GITS, new remastered and reedited version (a new vision of director Mamoru Osii of this future-world represented with new technology of creation) - GITS 2.0, original soundtrack (version from GITS 2.0) and bonus blu-ray disk (only in this edition). Also includes booklet with info about GITS 2.0, but only on japanese. And both anime have english subtitles.
With that box I recieve motion-picture tape from GITS, don't know with what edition it came - pre-order (first press...) or with each box.
