石ノ森章太郎原作の「ギルガメッシュ」DVDシリーズ第9弾!! 原作は1976年に「少年キング」誌上にて連載された作品。当時の価値観を以って、来るべき未来を想定して描かれた作品だったが、時は流れ、氏が想像した未来に現代が追いついてしまった。今回展開されるアニメーションは、石ノ森作品を忠実に映像化する事ではなく、彼の作品のもつメッセージをいかに現代に対して大きく広めるかという事を目的とし、原作の持つ深いテーマ性を削ぐ事なく、物語の骨子から構成を大胆にアレンジ。「21世紀に相応しい」全く新しいテレビアニメーションとなっている。第24話から第26話を収録。
