福山雅治主演の連続ドラマ『ガリレオ』のスペシャルドラマ『ガリレオΦ』がBlu-rayで登場! 連続ドラマで描いた物語からさかのぼること3年。福山雅治演じるガリレオこと湯川学に、北村一輝演じる草薙刑事が、初めて事件の捜査協力を依頼するところから物語がスタートする。さらに、草薙が湯川の才能に直に触れるきっかけとなった、大学時代のとある出来事も描かれるなど、"探偵ガリレオ"誕生の秘密とその原点が明らかになるという、ファンならずとも必見の一作。言うまでもなく全編撮り下ろしの新作! ――とある島で起きた密室殺人事件。事件を解決する糸口を求め、専門家の意見を聞くために帝都大学を訪れた草薙刑事(北村一輝)は、大学の掲示板で懐かしい名前を発見する。その男の名は、湯川学(福山雅治)。かつて草薙と同じバドミントン部の仲間で、今は帝都大学理工学部物理学科の助教授だ。学生時代から"超がつくほどの天才"と名をはせていたこの男の頭脳に一縷の望みを抱き、草薙は湯川の研究室を訪ねる。捜査のため事件現場を訪れた湯川と草薙の前に現れたのは、被害者の父親で車いす生活を余儀なくされている友永幸正(蟹江敬三)、被害者の妹で父親の介護をしながら生活を共にしている奈美恵(香里奈)だった。謎めいた人々が次々と捜査線上に浮かび上がってくる中、果たして犯人は誰なのか? 動機は? そして何よりも、どうやって密室殺人を完遂させたのか・・・? そして、湯川研究室の研究生で好奇心旺盛な塩野谷あかり(長澤まさみ)もこの事件に興味を示し、勝手に湯川たちについて行き、独自の調査を試みるのだが・・・? 天才・湯川が、旧友・草薙刑事と共に、初めて捜査に取り組む事件。果たして湯川は、謎とも思えるこの事件のからくりをどのように解明してゆくのか?
