長年地道にジャズボーカルを勉強しながらライブで研鑽を続け、選曲や唱法に独自のスタイルを目指す努力家ボーカリストの北川アキが、一流ジャズメン達の協力を得て、充実した内容のデビュー・アルバム。 1998年より山岡未樹に師事。2012年に乳癌を発生したが、治療しながら活動を続け、克服後も一層多くのジャズハウスにレギュラーで出演を重ねてレパートリーを増やし、一昨2014年「山岡未樹の7人の高弟たち」のアルバムに参加して、2曲を録音した実績があるが、2015年よりサックス奏者佐脇武則からジャズ理論全般についても教授を受けている。今回のフルアルバムについても佐脇の全面的な助言を受けて収録曲と演奏者を決定。長男の北川翔也もギターで参加している。アルバムタイトルはずっと前を向いて歩いていきたいという思いからの「I'm Walkin'」。
