実写版映画『進撃の巨人』と連動したdTVオリジナルドラマ。映画では描ききれなかった全3話のドラマを収録。出演は実写版映画と同じく、兵器班長"ハンジ"を演じた石原さとみをはじめ、桜庭ななみ(サシャ)、渡部秀(フクシ)、武田梨奈(リル)のほか、平岡祐太が演じる新キャラクター"イズル"も登場。さらに、製作を手掛ける布陣も、実写版映画に引き続き樋口真嗣総監督をはじめ日本映画界・特撮界が誇る各分野の最高峰のスタッフが再結集。第一話の「反撃の幕開け」は、立体機動装置の発明秘話や巨人研究など、ハンジの秘話を描く。第二話は桜庭ななみ演じるサシャが、第三話はフクシとリルのカップルが主人公。最新CGを駆使した立体機動のアクションなど、「進撃の巨人」の世界を語る上で見逃せないエピソードが満載。――ある日、治安統制局から派遣されたイズルは、巨人の生態を研究するハンジと出会う。イズルはハンジの実験室に捕獲した巨人が隔離されていることを知り・・・。
