      First time from hitomi 5

That is the first thing, what I have from her. I saw she the first time last year on the A-nation(2005). Her voice is other one than which I knew up to now. Because, normaly I hear Ai Otsuka,Ayumi Hamasaki,ELT and Namie Amuro. But I also love that now. And the other titles (Venus and there is...) a also good. I think, it's a very good Single.

      Japanese girl 5

If there was a single that truly deserved a 5 in 2005, I think it would be this one. hitomi really outdid herself on the single. The design of the CD is quite nice. The first track, Japanese girl, is very reminiscent of Madonna and 80's techno/dance music - the good ones. The song is very, very catchy. The second track 'Venus' is a cover of the popular song that is often heard in Gillette Venus commercials. Here, hitomi's English could be improved, but nonetheless it's the best cover I've heard of the song so far. This track as well was excellent. The third track was my personal favorite - "there is...~Love Life 2005 version~" This version of a 1999 hitomi rock song is a little more poppy, but I enjoyed this version much more. The song has a bit of a nostalgic, melancholic tone to it, which I thought was cool. This single is so good, it just can't be passed up. If you're into fashion or nail design, I'd recommend getting the version with the nails as well - they're quite pretty! This single, for me, was without a doubt one of the best singles of 2005.

      Surprisingly good 5

Some people are unhappy that hitomi has returned to dance pop after years of making pseudo-alt pop. Personally, I've always found hitomi's music bland and her voice sub-par, but I'm very fond of this single. The catchy, electronically arranged "Japanese girl" is not a groundbreaking or unique song, but it is thoroughly fun and addictive. The tongue-in-cheek background vocals are a nice touch, too. The cover of Shocking Blue's "Venus" is in the techno style of "Japanese girl," and makes a great b-side. While hitomi's voice is very limited, her deadpan singing works perfectly here, in contrast to the song's forward lyrics. The new version of "there is . . ." is a more electronic update. While hitomi's singing sounded better in the original, the new, sparse arrangement has more punch.
