I purchased this SHM-CD in the hopes that it would be significantly better than what I already had. Unfortunately, while some of these SHM-CD's are quite good, this one was disappointing. I wrote the following review of the 2006 release of this CD, which is still available here, for a lot less money. "If you are fan of this album, you MUST buy this CD. Although it's not mentioned in the descrption here or in the english liner notes, this CD has finally been remasterd. And boy, what a nice remastering job they did! I have purchased numerous copies of this CD, trying to find one that sounds good and this is the first one that was actually worth it. The price is certainly right and the sound is truly great. Don't let this deal pass you by." I have compared both versions several times on my Hi-Fi system, which is more than able to show up the differences and the older version wins hands-down every time.

How do you improve a CD thats sound good to start with? To Be Honest,I took a chance on purchasing this SHM-CD, and I'm glad that I did. Gone is the quiet sounding master of this CD. The SHM-CD is clearer and louder.So at the moment,this is the only proper Remastered Version of the Nightfly out on the market.It's sounds very close too the DVD-Audio version. If you like this album,it's worth getting again if you are into HI-Fi.
