"Steins;Gate 0 (Anime)" Original Soundtrack

Steins;Gate 0 is a series about second chances, that no matter the ill-fated worldline Okabe finds himself in, his perseverance and determination for his friends will lead him to the fabled Steins Gate. All of this is underscored by Takeshi Abo's music which has such range and fidelity for each of the scenes it accompanies. The main theme for this series - 'Messenger' - seems like a natural successor to the 'Gate of Steiner' and the two themes often play against eachother highlighting both Okabe's struggle and that of the team as a whole. It's a dynamic theme that evolves throughout the series from somber to triumphant. The series newcomer, Maho Hiyajou is given two themes, one highlighting her affinity for technology and science, and one which reflects on her self-doubt. This time Suzuha and her relationship with Daru is treated with delicate pieces for piano and strings, and along with music for Mayuri represents the more tender moments of the score and series. Completionists will want to seek out the original Visual Novel soundtrack for cues which were brought over as well as one beautiful version of the Gate of Steiner theme arranged for guitar on the 'Gate of Steiner 10th Anniversary Album'. All in all, this is another great anime score that offers a range of emotions and the series highlights across two cds. Abo offers some insight into several of the main themes in the liner notes.
