This really is fun!fun!fun!, as Shonen Knife solidifies its powerchord pop sound with a clutch of energetic, catchy tunes. Naoko seems to be even more in control of the band, with its Ramones influences front and center. All the same, this is completely distinctive. A couple of the slower numbers may not work was well (perhaps a translation would have helped; "Happy Birthday" was, frankly, a throwaway.. But this CD is otherwise a delight, and strongly recommended.

Naoko and Shonen Knife continue to release entertaining CDs, and I like this one almost as much as GENKI SHOCK!. My favorites this time are FLU, BARNACLE and LAS VEGAS, but all of the songs are fine. New drummer Etsuko fits in well! FUN! FUN! FUN! has still not been released in the USA, but I own Japan versions of most Shonen Knife CDs, and like them just as well- sometimes better. I don't know how Japanese fans feel, but many USA fans have trouble accepting anything but the original Shonen Knife with Atsuko and Michie, and I certainly love that group, too. But I also know that Knife's later CDs are all very good- better, in fact than much of what passes for Rock music today. I will continue to support Shonen Knife, and I urge all of their fans to do the same!
