Undercover - Live In The Village VanguardKurt Rosenwinkel QuartetKurt Rosenwinkel Live!
To be fair I've only given this one a few listens. Unfortunately each time I am hoping it will get better. There is no doubting that Rosenwinkel is a first rate guitarist yet there is nothing here that grabs me. The recording does move a long well yet seems scattered. His sidemen are talented and capable but, but something seems amiss. Perhaps after a bit more rotation this will grow on me...however for now this seems like a missed opportunity. Recommended with reservations.

Love Devotion Surrender - SACD Multi-ch Hybrid Edition - [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]Carlos Santana, Mahavishnu John McLaughlinA Love Supreme via McLaughlin & Santana
An updated version via meditation & spiritual induction by two guitar masters..short, sweet and high octane...but also reflective with brief moments of meditative passages. Perhaps not for the casual fan and others might consider it a period piece...Maybe or maybe not.. Recommended for that moment when it is needed..

Once Upon A Time In HollywoodOriginal SoundtrackTurn it up, play it LOUD!!
Like the movie this will require repeated plays...like heavy rotation. Get in with your crowd, your buds from way back & pop in the slot. From the very first time to closing time you'll get it..some tracks are better than others but none are bad. Most very good. Sound quality is strictly high- fidelity not great but good enough. Sounds good in the car or home...have a beer or two and travel back in time... P.S. If you haven't seen the movie do so now.

Blue Moves [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]Elton JohnElton & Bernie again
A beautiful recording in many ways that might put off some traditional Elton fans. That said there are many rewards to those that listen. Instrumentally a rich recording. One that is both captivating for it's depth & beauty. Still for a double LP there is only one hit. That may disappoint some. Not a party album nor a group listen..this is for when one is alone, lost within one's self.. Recommended? It depends..

Wings Over America [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]Paul McCartney & WingsWings take Flight
If you are a true McCarthy fan you have probably all ready heard this one. It is a live recording & because of this the fidelity suffers. However the spirit of the music & times is still there. This is Pop as only Paul can deliver and that is a good thing. Put it on, listen to it from beginning to end..Wings in Concert. An enjoyable moment in time. Recommended.

It's Prime Time [Blu-spec CD2]Joe FarnsworthJuz Swinging Along!
Not the newest jazz release, not cerebral like say ECM but this disc just moves along. Led by ace drummer Joe Farnsworth a talented group of cats delivery the goods. Happy, inspiring, uplifting jazz. Standard stuff in a way but delivered on time. I can listen to this stuff day or night.

Bitches Brew Quadraphonic SA-CD Multi Hybrid Edition [Limited Release]Miles DavisWoW!!!!
For packaging alone this is a must buy! Should be in every Miles collection. Beautifully put together with the sounds that made this release a Mile-stone in Mister Davis's career. Though not as complete as the previous released box-set, a worthy addition to the Miles Davis canon.

Pretzel Logic [Hi-Res CD (MQA x UHQCD)] [Limited Release]Steely Dan"the Pretzel is back, fresh as ever"!
From the opening bars of "Rikki Don't Lose that Number" this listener was immediately transported to the beauty and wonder of Hi-Res (MQA x UHQCD). Firmly settled in front of my Regas. Disc spinning in the Technics SL-C700 I ask myself, "how do they do it?" This recording is from the mid 70's...but do it they have. The cost? What cost!! Worth ever cent. Will purchase more. Highly recommended!
