NanairoJazztronikThe One
I had heard of Jazztronik before. I could get down to a couple of his earlier remixes on the Hospital label, I nodded a little to his work on 'Bossa Tres... Jazz'. But in 2004, I heard a snippet of a track on Batacuda Radio and was stunned. Who the hell was it by? I had no idea. Then when browsing through a Juno Records (a mail order website), I heard the track again. This time, it had a name: Samurai. I saw the artists name: Jazztronik, and since then I have not looked back. Every album, every remix, everything the man has released, I bought and everything I bought was good, and everything was alright with the world. It all started here for me. Nanairo is The One.

MadrugadaJazztronikJazztronik the Master Musicologist
This EP whets the appetite for Ryota's forthcoming double release. If like me you are a dedicated fan of this genius' output, you will grab this while you can. Jazz, Brasilian flavours and dance floor sensibilities rolled into one must have package. A+

JAZZTRONICA!JazztronikEclectik fantastik from Jazztronik
If I had any doubt that Mr Nozaki had taste in music then this great mixed compilation dispels them emohatically. From Azymuth's Brazilian Jazz to the West Midlands (my home) home grown Quantic, there is a funky, jazzy, dancefloor theme to this wide ranging eclectic collection of past and future classics. A gem

CANNIBAL ROCKJazztronik...ridiculous(ly sublime)
You won't get a bad word from me about Ryota Nozaki's Jazztronik. A new album was eagerly awaited, and the man delivers 2 outstanding long players at once; this (Cannibal Rock) and en:Code. Not only that, but not long after, there are 2 remix albums to enjoy. Is it christmas already?

The Remixes Part: IJazztronikDistortion of Genius Part 1
Ok, I am Jazztronik's number 1 fan bar none, I'll fight anyone who says otherwise (as long as your about 5 and a girl). But this remix album is a little like gilding the lily. The superb Samurai is a given a remix by Yukihiro Fukutomi which is not that different from the original and although I respect Mr Fukutomi's work and his attempt at a remix, I felt sorry for him trying to remix something that blew up dancefloors all over the world and is so imprinted with Jazztronik's soul that it cannot be improved (in my humble opinion). Anyway, I am biased. The rest of the album struggles to maintain an identity: Recloose's 'Verdades' is a great effort, as is Rasmus Faber's 'Searching For Love' and 'Get It Right' becomes a soulful house stormer in Isoul 8's capable hands. I'm not knocking the efforts, I just know that is someone said to me, "'remix Jazztronik", I would have to think twice. Great opportunity, hard act to follow. But you would have to try wouldn't you?

The Remixes Part: IIJazztronikDistortion of Genius Part 2
The second of Jazztronik's remix albums fares better than the first in my humble opinion. It starts off strongly with 2 Banks of 4's version of 'Pathways', jumps up a couple of gears with a great version of 'Dentro De Min' From Phil Asher and the other 'Dentro' from Reel People (UK strong in the House!), and of course one half of MAW knocks it out of the park with his sublime version of Madrugada (mixed a couple of metaphors back there, please forgive me). My favourite track from en:Code is softened by 2000black, where I think I would have wanted it taking futher in the direction it was going with maybe a bass heavy samba workout? (maybe I should give that a go myself if I am so disappointed. A sentence including, money, mouth is, etc comes to mind). Anyway, DJ Mitsu ends the albumcompetently, but as with The remixes part 1, I felt this lot had a tough job remixing a remixer who does his own stuff so well.
