Firepower Deluxe Edition [Blu-spec CD2] [Limited Edition]Judas PriestEnjoyable Late Priest Effort Firepower Deluxe Edition [Blu-spec CD2] [Limited Edition]Judas PriestEnjoyable Late Priest EffortI will always reach for 80s Priest and Painkiller first, but Firepower is an energetic effort with blazing guitars and great hooks that will satiate most metal fans. All the guys are firing on all cylinders, and the production is crisp. The title track and Evil Never Dies are standouts.

Stained ClassJudas PriestA Classic Metal Album Stained ClassJudas PriestA Classic Metal AlbumI mean … most of these songs are legitimately great. The entire first side IS greatness, as are 3 tracks on the second side. Standouts for me are Exciter, White Heat, Better by You and the controversial Beyond. Buy this album NOW!!

TurboJudas PriestSeverely Underrated TurboJudas PriestSeverely UnderratedI know it’s a hot take, but I adore Turbo from its dated, electronic sound to the somewhat of-its-time metal style. Turbo Lover and Reckless are Priest classics, and the twin guitars shine as always. A must buy NOT necessary for Priest fans, but for fans of truly dated 80s metal!

Priest...Live!Judas PriestMy Go To Live Priest Album Priest...Live!Judas PriestMy Go To Live Priest AlbumThis is Pruest at its most raw and powerful. I love the recording and production here - completely no-nonsense. Great early track list, and the twin guitars shine with Rob’s younger, powerful voice belting out beautiful madness. An absolutely must buy for rock and metal fans.

CrossfireWHITE WIDDOWGreat Modern AOR CrossfireWHITE WIDDOWGreat Modern AORBeen a big fan of Widdow since their second album, and this release is full of melodic rock and great guitar solos. Standout tracks Too Many Tears, Just Another Night and the cover of Thunder are legitimately great songs.

Fakin' PopKen HiraiNot Fakin' Talent Fakin' PopKen HiraiNot Fakin' TalentThis is probably Ken's most underrated album. For me, it's one of my absolute favorites that he's ever done. It's fun, unique, energetic and playful. It dabbles in a wider variety of songs with new sounds to his discography. The first track on this album is also my initial reason for checking it out. I adore the song POP STAR. I feel like he's playfully teasing Japan's teen pop idols with this song and also in its MV. However, it also has many great songs. I never skip a single song on here. The included booklet has all lyrics and credits laid out very nicely. Plus, the pages has a fun paint splatter design of different colors and some fantastic photos of Hirai himself. Very highly recommended!!

The Purple Album [w/ DVD, Limited Edition]WHITESNAKESolid, But Get the Gold Edition The Purple Album [w/ DVD, Limited Edition]WHITESNAKESolid, But Get the Gold EditionThis album is incredible; it’s great hearing these songs reimagined by this line up of Snake, especially since I’m a big Beach and Aldridge fan. I would just say to pick up the gold edition as it includes extra tracks.

Shaped by FireAs I Lay DyingMid-Tier AILD Shaped by FireAs I Lay DyingMid-Tier AILDI really wanted to love this album - the band’s first after Tim’s release - but I merely like it. It’s the more modern, more melodic but less screamy and heavy AILD. My Own Grave and the title track are standouts, but fans of this incarnation of AILD should just buy Through Storms Ahead instead

London Astoria 1992 [Limited Release]BadlandsFantastic Live Recording London Astoria 1992 [Limited Release]BadlandsFantastic Live RecordingSo, the first show’s live recording in Astoria is fantastic - I’m a huge Jake fan, and this definitely scratches that itch. I mean, they all sound fantastic which is amazing given the band wasn’t a very cohesive unit at the time. The second show’s recoding, however, is very rough but again, you’re really only buying this release for the Astoria live show

San Antonio 1986 [Limited Edition]BLACK SABBATHSolid Live Album of the 80s Era San Antonio 1986 [Limited Edition]BLACK SABBATHSolid Live Album of the 80s EraThis is an extremely good live recording of this line up of Sabbath, with Ray sounding fantastic and doing justice to Ozzy, Dio and Glenn’s tracks (which is basically an impossible feat). The Live AID tracks are a nice edition but aren’t great.

Parabellum [Blu-spec CD]Yngwie MalmsteenRelentless Fury! Parabellum [Blu-spec CD]Yngwie MalmsteenRelentless Fury!I have YM’s first 5 albums on SHM-CD - I think they were the very first CDs I purchased from CDJapan - and don’t listen to much else; these albums ARE my childhood. However, when I heard Relentless Fury with YM SINGING leads, my jaw dropped. His voice is great and fits the music perfectly. The music is standard fair for YM, but this is why we love him

UltrapowerStrikerSilly BUT Catchy UltrapowerStrikerSilly BUT CatchyStriker is a silly 80s callback band, but they know exactly what they’re doing: they possess great musicianship and these songs are really well executed. Best of the Best of the Best and Ready for Anything are both heavy in my playlists. Highly recommended for fans of 80s and 80s throwbacks

A-ZA-ZDecent, But Not There Yet A-ZA-ZDecent, But Not There YetI’m a huge fan of Fates Warning, especially their late 80s to mid 90s output, so II was all in for the Zonder & Adler band. And while the musicianship is undeniable, the songs just aren’t there for me. No tracks really stand out except Trial By Fire. That said, their SECOND album is AWESOME

A War You Cannot WinALL THAT REMAINSOne of those Weird ATR Releases A War You Cannot WinALL THAT REMAINSOne of those Weird ATR ReleasesATR hit a point in their career where they started including both heavier metalcore AND commercially-accessible heavy rock on their albums. It would have been nice if they stuck to one genre - or similar ones - on their albums because the result is an uneven listening experience. And this album is especially uneven. That said, Asking Too Much and What If I Was Nothing are some of their best lighter songs and tracks light Shadow and Bind Me are solid heavier songs.
