Further Ahead: Live in Finland (1964-1969)Bill EvansNice!!!This is a compilation worth having. Having different trios on one record, with more than one version of the same song, makes it very interesting to hear the nuances each player brings to the vibe. I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the noise floor being too high on vinyl, but the CD version sounds wonderful, surprisingly clear for tapes this old. Great packaging from the original source and from CDJapan; it includes a fully translated booklet in Japanese, and the obi covers the entire back, translating the original back cover.

Haunted Heart: The Legendary Riverside Studio Recordings [UHQCD]Bill Evans TrioGood editionThe master on this reissue is noticeably different from the original vinyl and first CD, but still with the original character of sound. Great edition for completionists since it comes with all the alternate takes, also great material for those who study Mr. Evans playing, the alternate takes let you compare directly with the chosen versions for official release, and have a closer look at the approach Evans had to improvising the same solo with different expression or nuances, see how he developed his style in these early stages. Comes with a couple interesting add-ons, liner notes and something that looks like a small poster, not a fan of paper sleeve packaging because of the cd scratching but still can be handled with care.

On Through The Night [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]Def LeppardDEF Leppard On Through The Night Shm-CDDef Leppard's On Through the Night (1980) is seen as a raw, promising debut, capturing the band's New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) roots with energetic, hook-filled hard rock, showcasing great guitar work (Clark/Willis) and young talent, though sometimes hampered by slightly slow tempos and bottom-heavy production that doesn't fully match its live power. It's praised for tracks like "Rock Brigade," "Wasted," and "Rocks Off," but noted for its unpolished sound compared to later albums, making it a treat for dedicated hard rock fans looking for a heavier, less glam-focused Leppard . Fantastic SHM-CD Sound in nice Cardboard Sleeve. Top!

High 'N' Dry [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]Def LeppardDEF LeppardDef Leppard's "High 'n' Dry" is considered a raw, intense hard rock classic that laid the foundation for their later mega-sound and achieved MTV success with "Bringin' On the Heartbreak"—an honest, powerful record brimming with youthful anger and authentic rock 'n' roll spirit. It stands in contrast to glossy productions like "Hysteria," yet showcases their roots and is praised by critics for its pure hard rock power. Key aspects of the reviews: Sound: Robust, less polished sound than later works, with plenty of guitar power and energy. Style: Pure hard rock, melodic metal with a raw edge and intense riffing. Significance: A pioneering album that paved the way for their breakthrough, it captures the band in their youthful phase before the arrival of their big glam rock sound. ``` Highlights: Songs like "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" (which became an MTV hit), "No, No, No," and "Another Hit and Run" are frequently highlighted. In summary: "High 'n' Dry" is considered an essential album for fans who want to understand the origins of Def Leppard's sound. It's less mainstream than "Pyromania" or "Hysteria," but all the more powerful and authentic in its pure hard rock sound.

Pyromania [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]Def LeppardDEF Leppard PyromaniaPyromania (1983) by Def Leppard is widely hailed as a hard rock masterpiece, defining the 80s sound with its polished production by Mutt Lange, blending heavy riffs with massive pop-rock hooks, creating massive hits like "Photograph," "Rock of Ages," and "Foolin'" while showcasing tight musicianship and melodic brilliance, though some note its signature Simmons drum sound now feels dated, yet the album remains a landmark for its infectious catchiness and crossover appeal. Fantastic SHM-CD Sound and a nice Cardboard Sleeve. Top!

Hysteria [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]Def LeppardDEF Leppard HysteriaDef Leppard's "Hysteria" (1987) is widely considered a landmark album, praised for its massive pop-rock hits like "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and "Love Bites," immense production, and status as a quintessential '80s pop/glam metal classic, though some critics find it overproduced, commercially slick, and formulaic compared to their earlier, harder rock sound. Reviews highlight its huge commercial success, iconic singles, extensive studio layering, and ability to bridge hard rock and mainstream pop, making it an essential yet divisive album, often described as the peak of '80s pop production or a sell-out, depending on the listener's perspective. Fantastic SHM-CD Sound and a nice Cardboard Sleeve. Top !

Tomita Isao Tezuka Osamu Sakuhin Ongaku Senshu [Blu-spec CD2]Isao TomitaPerfect Tomita-Tezuka BoxsetFantastic five-disc boxset of Isao Tomita's music for various Osamu Tezuka animation projects. I mainly bought this for the soundtrack to 1001 Nights, which is a mind-blowing combination of Miklos Rozsa-style epic orchestral music and proto-prog rock jamming. A beautiful package, with five normal-sized jewel cases in a sturdy thick box. For years I only knew Tomita as that guy who did synthesizer versions of classical music, but his original soundtracks are a whole other world of music to explore.

1976 [5SHM-CD + Blu-ray Audio] [Limited Release]Thin LizzyThin Lizzy 1976 5 SHM-CD +Blu-ray AudioBoth Johnny the Fox and Jailbreak were released in 1976 and are considered Thin Lizzy's definitive studio albums, featuring hits such as "The Boys Are Back In Town," "Jailbreak," "Warriors," and "Cowboy Song." The Acoustic Sessions [SHM-CD]Thin LizzyThin Lizzy Acoustic Session SHM-CDThe album "The Acoustic Sessions" is Thin Lizzy's future cult album and is essentially "Nirvana MTV Unplugged," making the Lizzy catalog accessible to a new and wider audience. This unique project offers fans a rare opportunity to experience Thin Lizzy's classic hits like never before, with Lynott's previously unheard vocal recordings perfectly complemented by Bell's fresh acoustic arrangements and Downey's dynamic drumming. Drawing on material from the band's legendary Decca era, the album presents tracks from Thin Lizzy's first three albums in an intimate, stripped-down format that will appeal to longtime fans and a new generation of listeners alike. The album includes the very first acoustic version of "Whiskey in the Jar," the song that propelled Thin Lizzy to international fame. This reimagining of a classic hit is a testament to the enduring appeal of Thin Lizzy's music and offers a fresh perspective on their legacy that is both timeless and contemporary. Top!

Live Killers [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]QueenQueen Live Killers SHM-CdQueen's 1979 live album, Live Killers, received mixed reviews, praised for capturing the band's energetic live performance and strong setlist featuring hits and deeper cuts, but often criticized for its poor, "tinny" sound quality and less polished production compared to their studio albums, though many fans found its raw, chaotic energy compelling, making it a definitive, albeit flawed, document of their '70s arena rock power.

Live at Wembley '86 [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]QueenQueen Live at Wembley SHM-CDQueen's "Live at Wembley '86" is widely considered an iconic, must-see concert that captures the band at the peak of its live power, though some critics note minor imperfections in vocal performance and setlist choices. Overall, reviews are overwhelmingly positive, praising the spectacle and Freddie Mercury's mastery of the immense crowd. Key Review Highlights Freddie Mercury's Performance: Reviewers consistently highlight Mercury as one of the greatest frontmen in rock history, who had the 72,000-strong Wembley crowd in the "palm of his hand". His energy, vocal range (despite some initial warm-up struggles on the album's first half), and unique interaction with the audience, including famous call-and-response segments, are frequently cited as the show's best attributes. Band Chemistry & Musicianship: The synergy between Brian May (guitar), Roger Taylor (drums), and John Deacon (bass) is commended, with critics noting the impressive "wall of sound" produced by the trio. May's guitar work is particularly praised, though some find his extended "Brighton Rock" solo slightly overlong on the audio release. Atmosphere & Legacy: The concert is celebrated for its incredible energy and the shared experience between the band and the fans. Filmed a year after their legendary 21-minute set at Live Aid, the full Wembley shows (held across two nights in July 1986 during the "Magic Tour") are seen as a triumphant validation of the band's status as a global phenomenon. It is a poignant watch for many fans, as it was one of the last major performances with the original lineup before Mercury's passing. Setlist: The show features a mix of classic hits ("Bohemian Rhapsody", "We Will Rock You", "Radio Ga Ga") and tracks from their latest album, A Kind of Magic. A few reviews mention "filler" tracks or 50s cover tunes that could have been omitted, but most agree the song selection is excellent. Consensus "Live at Wembley '86" is widely regarded as a classic live album and concert film, considered essential viewing and listening for any rock music fan. It is often described as one of the best live performances ever captured on film, showcasing Queen at their absolute commercial and performing peak. Top SHM-CD Sound in a nice Cardboard Sleeve

Queen on Fire - Live at the Bowl [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]QueenQueen in Fire SHM-CDQueen on Fire: Live at the Bowl is generally considered a powerful and energetic live album and concert film that captures Queen at a peak as a rock band, despite being recorded during the controversial Hot Space tour. Reviews praise its raw sound and Freddie Mercury's showmanship, though opinions on the setlist's Hot Space tracks are mixed. Key Review Points Performance Quality: Critics and fans often describe the band as being in top form, with a "tremendous amount of energy". Freddie Mercury's showmanship and vocal range are highlighted, as are the strong performances by Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. Sound and Production: The album and DVD are noted for an "aggressive" and excellent sound mix that benefits from digital remastering. The live setting's "stripped down, more rock orientated sound" is a significant improvement for the songs from the studio album Hot Space. Setlist: The concert features many greatest hits alongside tracks from the Hot Space album. Reviewers consistently note that the Hot Space songs (like "Action This Day" and "Staying Power") sound much better live, with a heavier rock feel, compared to their synth-heavy studio versions. Comparison to Other Live Albums: While Live at Wembley is more famous, many fans and critics prefer Queen on Fire for capturing a "tighter, meaner and heavier" version of the band before they became a "travelling greatest hits band". Bonus Features: The double-disc set includes bonus features such as tour highlights from Japan and Vienna and interviews with band members (excluding John Deacon), which are a draw for dedicated fans. Criticisms: A few negative reviews criticize the sound quality as "awful" and the performances as lacking emotion, with particular disdain for the Hot Space material, though these are a minority opinion. Overall, Queen on Fire is widely recommended for Queen fans who appreciate the band's heavier rock side and an energetic live performance. Top SHM-Cd Sound and nice Cardboard Sleeve
