Saxophonist Joshua Redman, pianist Brad Mehldau, bassist Christian McBride, and drummer Brian Blade are long-established masters, and a foregone conclusion that what you’re about to hear will surely be stellar. And it is. LongGone ultimately isn’t about the dexterity of the individual. It’s a textbook display of what happens when a group of musicians — each a leader in his own right-understand and trust one another enough to let the music go where it must.

Many people say that sleeping is like a free trial of death, you’re not dead, but you’re not fully experiencing what it means to be alive either. It’s a vague, humorous explanation. Somni, on the other hand, is an excellent portrayal of the trance and the journey of being in the land of dreams. It doesn’t use words, but pure sonic experience. Unlike most of their other work, here you find melodies that feel suspended in the air and sound textures that intrigue. An interesting recording, 100% recommended.

I was excited to see what a jazz piano trio arrangement of fusion music would sound like. Even if you're not familiar with Weather Report, I think this arrangement is enjoyable enough. Makoto Kuriya's piano sound is clear and powerful. Koichi Osamu's thick, heavy, and powerful bass. Hiroyuki Noritake's drums are surprisingly vivid. I'd love to see more jazz and fusion sounds like this...

There are artists who play the Weather Report like this!! It's too great. I was surprised. The tension of the performance is great, but there is another arrangement.

Travels is a MASTERPIECE of the highest order. It offers the listener a complete experience in free form, space, ambient and world jazz. While never being heavy or distorted and always relying on his trademark guitar synth, the music is ALWAYS progressive and quite angular at times. Even though the songs on Travels can be found on other CDs in their original, studio renditions, the versions on this live recording are BETTER than their studio counterparts; even the transcendental "Are You Going With Me" blows away the sterile studio version. I recommend this album to ALL progressive music fans. It's mellower than your modern day prog and nothing like the jazz fusion of the 1970s. Yet, it's equally intense and offers an emotional lift that I've found in few recordings.

Great second album from Laufey. Maintains the same hopeless romantic theme as her first release which sits perfectly in the Jazz genre. Love the creative lyric writing with some wonderful music composition. Four stars here with five for the first release. The Japan release is a standout!

Veteran organist Lonnie Smith pays homage to John Coltrane on this new release, supported once again by guitarist John Abercrombie and drummer Marvin "Smitty" Smith. Basically, a well-executed and delightful recording. We have here is good working-class, no-frills jazz!

Yoshiko Goto's vocals possess "a hazy, mist-like texture", while Takashi Mizuhashi double bass establishes a profound foundation, crafting an atmosphere where warm and cool tonalities intertwine.

Al my all-time favorite vocalist. I will truly miss this amazing artist. I have so many of his albums so many favorites. This particular album has one his best songs ever. This album is highly recommended.

"Domino Theory" features a detailed, organic, and well sounding production. Zawinul is a master of his craft, and anything he touches is at least interesting to listen to.

Great remastering, sounds better than the SACD (Eu), one of the best Peterson albums, I recommend it.
