MelodyMoviePretty good for MELODY on Blu Ray.When I saw this movie was going to be given a Blu Ray release, I was excited if not surprised. Just as it was in South America, particularly Argentina, MELODY (a.k.a S.W.A.L.K) has had a large cult following since the mid 70's and has seen several releases in the last few decades. I have owned just about every edition of this film, from VHS to Laser Disc to DVD and now Blu Ray. It was not until a few years ago that the original Widescreen edition was made available, which was already a huge jump from the early editions. However, quality of the film has always been up to Japanese standards, meaning, pretty great. I had no doubt this Blu Ray edition would look and sound good and I was not disappointed. Thankfully, Japan and the USA both share the same region and NTSC system, so I jumped to pre-order it and got it today, the release date. The Video quality is rather good, with some good sharpness overall and, at times, spectacular. There are, however, some instances where the picture is not as sharp, but it is generally OK. There is some dirt that seems to have surprisingly made it's way into the transfer during one scene and it shows up a couple of times, but when it is gone, that is it. The colors are true to the original and still retains that early 1970's feel of a misty, gray London. The sound is Dolby 2.0 and nothing to write home about. It is mostly clear except for being a bit muffled every so often, making some of the dialogue somewhat difficult to understand, particularly Ornshaw's heavy cockney. Still, I was generally pleased. The extras are not many, just the Japanese trailer. That is OK as most of us fans should be happy that this got a Blu Ray release to really care about any extras. I doubt this Blu Ray will ever get a US release, so getting this Blu Ray directly from Japan (I got it from CDJapan) is your best bet. The price is a bit steep, though it won't break the bank. If you are a fan of this film, even remotely, GET THIS. Japan has a tendency of releasing stuff in limited numbers and when stuff is gone, it is gone, so I would not hesitate.

Summertime [Blu-ray]MovieBetter quality than USA Criterion DVD!I'm very impressed with the Blu Ray with this classic film! Better picture and sound over the USA DVD from Criterion. Most highly recommend!

Fist of Fury [Blu-ray]Moviemissing dialog! The English audio soundtrack has missing dialog, very disappointing considering the very high price of this blu ray.

Mr. Nice GuyMovieBest english-friendly version availableThis release contains the purest, uncut version of this film. This version is better than New Line Cinema's for the following reasons: The original score is intact. The original undubbed English dialog, with everyone's Australian accents, is preserved. The original Hong-Kong version of the film opens with the scene where Giancarlo discovers that his lover, Tina, is a Demon spy. Then the scene switches to Jackie Chan's TV chef program. This helps give the movie a more "serious" tone. New Line Cinema switches back and forth to the construction site fight scene and the interrogation scene of Demon gang members by Giancarlo and his men. The uncut HK version shows both of these scenes one after another seamlessly. Also available in this version are bits and pieces of violence throughout and a few more scenes. The only draw back is that the picture for the uncut HK version is non-anamorphic and there are no English subtitles. The sound quality could also use some improvement.

BATMAN BEGINS Special EditionMovieBest superhero on screen!BATMAN is my favorite DC Comic superhero and this remake is the best one on screen - it was a big success! So I wondered, why any collector/deluxe DVD edition released for this movie in Japan?

Mamma Mia! The Movie SoundtrackOriginal SoundtrackHow can I resist? From a fantastic Stage show to an awsome file this soundtrack is totally amazing - not ABBA but still great. Great new cover art too!

Happy Feet Special EditionAnimationPenguin TegoshiTegoshi's voice is very lovely, great dub for the first time. I smile and laught everytime when hear the bad tone singing of Mumble from Tegoshi. I think he has a gift for this, dubbling or narration. Such a pity, there is no English sub.
-
THE RETURN OF THE DANCING MASTERMovieThe return of the dancing masterAn excellent movie with very good actors. All the actors speak English, without any dubbing, which adds to the attraction of this version.

STITCH! THE MOVIEDisneyStitch! The MovieThe first OAV, this sequel introduces all of Stich's "cousins" - fellow experiments of the mad scientist Jumba who escape all over Kaui. Lilo & Stitch have to capture them all before they cause havoc. The Disney Channel television show "Lilo & Stitch: The Series" shown in the United States continued this theme, with each episode introducing a new "cousin". This film (and the series) are much more happy and upbeat then either the original film or the official sequel ("Stich Has a Glitch").

THE RINGS [Limited Release]MovieA must buy for Ring Fans...This excellent short film takes place between the first and second film. If Ring Two had been as good as this short film Ring Two wouldve been a complete knock-out movie. This short film adds to the ring mythos and shouldve been the direction in which the Ring franchise shouldve gone. Only in Japan is this wonderful short film available to buy as a separate disc. The disc also has trailers and teasers for Ring Two and the cursed videos from the Ring Movies.

Shaolin Soccer x Kung Fu Hustle Double Pack [Limited Release]Movieccccccccccccchhhhhhhoooooowwwww!!!!Kung Fu Hustle was the awesomest movie to ever grace my dvd shelf. the style and humor of the movie is beyond anything to date. stephen chow is a master of all things awesome. shaolin soccer, the first chow movie i ever saw, was amazing for its time. the graphics in the movie from visual to cgi are breathtaking. watch it and if you don't say, "wow!" during the last game your either blind, insane, or have no taste whatsever. both of these movies are a must have and definitely shows us americans that we aren't the best at everything.
