Great! 5

No complaints - mastering is dynamic and natural, sounds great - as good or better than the original Ardent-cut London vinyl.

GREAT REISSUE 5

finally, after 30 years i can hear this album like i heard it for the first time on viynl over 3 decades ago, the shm mastering is awesome and the lp replica is right down to a T with the original lp jacket replicated including the poster and the inner sleeve, its all here just like the first pressing was back in 1976, anyway this album seemed to take zz top in a bit of a different direction, this had a very smooth sound to it and was not quite as heavy as the previous zz top albums where as per 1976, this is a great rock album to say the least, billys guitar playing is awesome on here and i think he may have been trying new things with this record, the production sure is a bit different then the production on the first 4 albums for example, many zz top fans will even say this was there favorite zz top album, regardless finally after all these years we get this on cd sounding the WAY IT SHOULD SOUND!!!!! this is an absolute must for any zz top fan...........

Really Nice Sleeve and Good Sound 4

I agree with the below review. This does not have the high frequency shine of the other albums, but sound different yet still good. Nice Sleeve even though the cardboard is a little thin.

Very interesting release 5

This 1976 release produced by Bill Ham was originally engineered quite differently than the two preceeding and very popular releases (Tres Hombres/Fandango). Tejas is apparently remastered from band approved audio, which likely has not been heard in quite a while, if at all. The audio has less of the high end frenquency range heard on the two aforementioned releases. This is not a bad thing, just different. Each song has more of a unique sound production wise and thus, the release is less consistent in sound from start to finish. As far as the mastering on this disc, I am impressed. The peaks in mastering are as they should be. This is not mastered low, Steve Hoffman style, and is nothing like the compressed, fatigue inducing, brick walled releases of today. This disc has excellent dynamic range and clarity. The music breathes and nuances in the instrumentation are apparent. Although I prefer the consistency in sound of Tres Hombres, Tejas is a very entertaining listen. The replica of the tri-fold sleeve and inserts are top notch, and the art on the cd replicates the original lp desert scene. Highly recommended!

Great Release! 5

Excellent SHM-CD sound! This album is great , another fine, fine album from the Little Band from Texas. Great drumming and guitar work. This album sounds killer on SHM-CD , mastered low and quiet with dynamic sweet sound. Mini LP and Inner sleeve is incredible , great gatefold complete with a killer poster live photo from the mid-'70's! This release is killer.....highly recommended!!
