Perfume's stadium shows are always amazing, and while I've actually been to two of their shows in the United States (both in NYC), I've always wished I could see one of their giant spectacle shows in Japan. They really know how to make use of a massive space like no other act I've seen. In terms of shows on this scale, I have this disc, the 7th tour "Future Pop" disc, the 6th tour "Cosmic Explorer" disc, and the 4th tour "Level 3" in dome disc. All of these tours have tried to do something new and different with mostly the same material. (To be honest, their best songs are still from the Level 3 era and before, and that's mostly what they're still playing here.) The "Future Pop" tour disc showed too much of the stage setup and not enough of Perfume themselves. Most of the camera shots were from too far away and the editing didn't let you see much of the dance moves. This disc gets back to more close-in shots of the three of them, and indeed despite the huge stage, they spend about the first 2/3 of it together in the center as if they're playing a smaller room. But then come Chrome and Edge. And hoo-boy! Things open up at that point. They spread out and travel around the stadium both for "Edge" and then "Party Maker", which are two of their best live songs and the highlights of this disc. The bonus disc has "Edge" with individual camera shots of each of the members all the way through (this is awesome and I wish they had it for every song!), a backstage video shot by the members themselves, medley performances from two other shows, MC's from other shows (none of these discs are subtitled, so this is of limited use to me), a music video, and a few other things. Overall it doesn't quite equal my favorite show of theirs, which is the 4th tour "Level 3" in dome show (filmed in the same stadium), but it's definitely better than the "Future Pop" disc. Oh, and the entire tour had to be suspended literally the day after this show because of COVID. So anyone who's complaining about people in the crowd wearing masks, just be glad you have this disc at all. It very nearly did not happen. The backstage video even ends very abruptly with the members telling the staff that the tour is being suspended. It's sad for everybody. But at least we have a really good live disc to commemorate this tour.
Perfume 8th Tour 2020 "P Cubed" in Dome [Limited Edition] Customer Reviews
Perfume
Really good! All very good as always! Love it! the packaging so good and safe! ................................................................................
Another fun Perfume live that will make everyone happy. New fans or not. Let's hope the pandemic won't last too much longer. Looking forward for another Perfume tour in future Gus aka P444's personal comment has nothing to do with P Cubed concert.
Although other apparently anti-mask mentalist reviewers from the US believe that face masks apparently "ruined" this concert, I can say as a person who was actually present in Tokyo for the live, this BD is a wonderful way to experience the show at a safe distance. An amazing set list from many eras of Perfume, (despite the omission of many JPN songs) P Cubed in Dome is an outstanding concert that will surely rank as one of Perfume's best.
Perfume returns to Tokyo Dome after almost 7 years, and they didn't pull back when it comes to curating a great setlist from their 20-year history, or crafting a stage set-up that truly delivers. The performance and production quality is top notch as you may expect from Team Perfume, and the audio and visual quality on this release itself is also amazing, especially on a good set-up that can best replicate the concert experience. Additionally, disc 2 content offers a more in-depth look behind the scene as well as additional content that is of great supplement to the show proper. Either you are a long time Perfume fan or just starting out, this is a great entry to their already large library of enjoyable live performances, and truly a great way to celebrate their 20 years together. Side note: As show came at a pivotal time in 2020, Team Perfume specifically asked for audience members to come masked and a vast majority, if not all, of those who attended on Feb 25 in Tokyo Dome obliged. Some may say the masks in the crowd are distracting, but it actually reflects a great level of discipline on part of fans to band together for a common and far-bigger cause.
I just got Perfume 8th Tour 2020 "P Cubed" in Dome and was really looking forward to it and then I saw everyone wearing masks in the audience ! THIS TOTALLY RUINED IT FOR ME ! I don't want to watch a Perfume concert and be reminded of the crap we are in right now. I couldn't finish it ! Life is hard enough not having a job any more and being fined $250 if you don't wear a mask in public. Perfume used to be my escape and now I can't do that anymore. NOT RECOMMENDED !
