A great and yet hugely under-rated album from these three great artists. On the CD side the recording is a knockout but, when it comes to the SACD content... Well, what can you say? Brilliant! Superb stuff in a great 7" package.

The stereo layer is very good. The Quad layer is outstanding. The sound field places the listening in the center surrounded by the individual musicians. Steve Stills on tracks six through 10 sounds like he's playing solo in the left front speaker while Ginger Baker is hammering the drum on the right. I enjoyed the quad performance best of all the re-releases from Sony. I rate this on level with Herbie Hancock and the "Headhunters" quad release. Five stars easy.
Very good record. I especially like the earlier editions. I have been listening to this music a lot since this record was released. I would like to have it on SACD as well

When the SACD Super Session was released by Audio Fidelity in 2014, with a new multi-channel mix by Al Kooper, I was overwhelmed by the sound when I first listened to it. I was a little skeptical when the new 7" SACD with an original quad mix was announced. Can you still hear it after the new mix? YES, you can and with great enjoyment. I'm very happy with the new edition with the "old" Quad Mix. Would never give it away again....
