Uroboros is a fantastic album. Just about everything was perfect to me: the artwork, packaging, music, and content. The 2CD, DVD, 2 LP version was quite the price, but it came with all of the above. To start off, the package is HUGE! It's the width and length of an LP. The slipcase is a nice leather type box with the album title written in silver glimmering letters. Inside there is a case for the LPs, and a case for the CDs and DVD. The LP case is a double gatefold case, while the CD DVD case is a tri-fold. Instead of a booklet, a hardcover book is included. It contains both english and Japanese lyrics, and incredible artwork. A bonus sticker of the cover is also included with the package. The CD itself is great. Dir en Grey really outdid themselves on this one. The album is a mixture of their old and new self, ranging from hard-hitting, heart-wrenching songs full of despair to songs that are easy on the ears and put one in a trance. The bonus CD contains 4 unplugged tracks from the album: Ware Yami tote, Iconvenient Ideal, Red Soil, Dozing Green (Technically the draft version). My favorite is Red Soil; it sounds completely different than the original and VERY interesting. The DVD was the weakest link to me in this package. It shows scenes from the recording of Uroboros and interviews with the band members, and also some live performances of just the band. The footage was actually kind of boring, seeing as I can't speak Japanese very well. The performances were cool to watch though. All in all, Uroboros was fanTAStic. Music was amazing, packaging was of high quality, and it was full of content. 5/5

The Past, Present and Future... 5

The wait was unbearable, but I waited till it was dark outside when I plugged this disc in. It didn't take any longer than the first second to have me in complete trance all the way through till the last second. The only thing I could say was that it was probably their best album yet. After having listened to so many times that I know every single detail in the songs, I can say that it truly is. Why is really not that easy to explain under 2400 letters, but I'll try. SA BIR is the greatest instrumental opening I've heard from any band - period! VINUSHKA is not only a great insight to what the whole album will feel like, it's their most epic song ever! The two delicate singles GLASS SKIN and DOZING GREEN could never have prepared one for the powerful darkness this album holds. INCONVENIENT IDEAL which closes the album is their most emotional song ever. Really, there's no point in talking about every song because they are all perfect! I can't even pick favourites, I just thought I'd say how the album starts, how it is somewhere in the middle and how it closes. The amount of hard work put down in this album is astonishing as DIR EN GREY manage to push themselves in a direction that make them better and better with every album which is something I can't think of any other single band have ever accomplished. The unplugged disc contain 3 tracks once again and they are just as great, if not better than those from the previous album! In particular RED SOIL which also feature completely re-recorded vocals. The DVD is nice with some interviews as well as two songs performed live in the studio. I have yet to listen to the vinyl records, but that will definitely happen one day. UROBOROS is so great that I can't possibly imagine how their next album will ever manage to top it, but I've said the same thing in the past with their previous albums as well and they always prove that they know how. They managed to capture the past, present and future of themselves with their darkest album yet.

Though the pricetag might throw you off, it's worth every penny. The quality of everything included payed for itself. The music was awesome too, everything from "Glass Skin" to "BUGABOO"...amazing. Loved that it was delivered fast and in beautiful shape. Thank you Cdjapan!

Killer Release 5

This is definitely a big leap from their previous album release(Marrow of a Bone). While many would still flame them for producing weird/thrashy/noisy songs, I like the direction they are heading. Unlike many albums released these days which are reliant on the A-Side songs, the B-side songs for this album hold up very well. Inconvenient Ideal and Doukoku to Sarinu are just a couple of the B-side songs I liked. While this album would have its share of critics, I would still highly rate this album as one of the best JRock release for 2008.

Phenomenal 5

When I ordered this, the cover art hadn't even been released. It was something of a leap of faith, shelling out that much money for something I hadn't seen/heard yet, but it paid off bigtime! The album itself is a remarkable work of art, taking the best elements of old Dir en Grey, and infusing some unique new aspects; it's brutal, yet beautiful, relentless yet melodic. Sonic soundscapes, blistering guitars, furious beats, and (of course) frenzied vocals. The packaging for this limited release, was a treat in itself (the description doesn't do it justice) it looks gorgeous! There has never been a better time to be a fan of, or discover dir en grey!

Amazing~! 5

I defiently did not expect this CD to be this good, not talking about the music but the way everything was put together! The case that everything came in is perfect, its much bigger than I would have thought, i was so happy when i opened it. And the CD itself is perfect, Kyo's vocals are outstanding, especially on the LP version of BUGABOO theres a bonus track where Kyo sings without any background music. The unplugged disk was also very good i love it, and they lyric book that came with it was amazing, i defiently wasnt expecting a hard cover book! The only thing i didnt like was the DVD had no subtitles, i wasnt expecting any at all, but it would have been nice. I defiently recomend this to anyone, although the price is quite high, it was toally worth it ^-^

Dir En Grey as great as ever 5

If you've followed the evolution of Dir En Grey, you might feel like me, that this album is very fitting. Although they are more popular in America and have toured there, I believe Dir En Grey have sticked to what they'd done numerous times: A different sound, one they FELT like going with regardless of inter-genre snobbery. It is one of the reasons I love them. They love music, explore genres and guide fans through amazing sounds! Yes it is different, but it's totally Dir En Grey. If you have any respect for music and this band, you will see it for what it is: Another masterpiece. This limited edition is beautiful. It's truly a collectors piece. Even if it was expensive, I feel it was a fair deal ;)

Better than I thought 5

After "the marrow of a bone" I was pretty worried about their style and which way they would take in terms of style and music. But Uroboros showed its potential right after the intro. It is a wonderful album and comes with the right amount of quality features with this limited edition.

I ADORE it! 5

I bought this merely for the fact that Its Dir En Grey, Japanese LIMITED edition, collectors item, you know, that whole schtick. I just picked it up today, and at first, I was squealing like a fangirl over the packaging... Now, I'm listening to it, and its beautiful. I've yet to watch the dvd, but i have one this to say; Glass Skin made me cry. I wasn't expecting it. First I was listening to Kyo's voice, and then the very next moment the tears started to fall. Its very moving, even if you don't understand it. (Thats what the lyric book is for. TRANSLATIONS.) Overall, I love it.

Left me speechless 5

I was pleasently suprised by this CD. I was expecting to be around as calm as Glass Skin, with a little bit of Dozing Green style in there, since it was rumored that they went back to their old style, with a little of new. However, when I heard Vinushka for the first time, I was like 'O_O'. It totally caught me off guard, since the music barely sounds like their old stuff, and the vocals are nothing like it. I have all their CDs, so I know. I would recommend this CD to any and all Dir en grey fans. This is one of the freakin' greatest things ever. It ranks pretty darn close up there to Miyavi's "This Iz the Japanese Kabuki Rock". And even though I don't have an LP player, just knowing that I have those is just awesome. I can always frame and hang them if I want to, but I don't see myself doing that.

Simply "UROBOROS!" 5

This Limited Version comes with a album book, that is actually like a book not a booklet. It contains both Japanese and English lyrics with nice background. The second disc which is different from other limited version. It contains, in addition to UNPLUGGED VERSOINS, DOZING GREEN (Before Construction Ver), which is, in my opinion, better than original DOZING GREEN. It really sounds different from the single. It's more soft with somewhat like a "Ware, Yami Tote," feel to it. It so contains remastered verions of DOZING GREEN and GLASS SKIN. Also, DVD that contains studio live of DOZING GREEN and TOGURO with lengthy interview. This is DIFFERENT from American version: I believe American version does not provide CDs but digital download with LP; on the other hand, Japanese Version contains 2 DISCS, 2nd DISC that is DIFFERENT from all other LIMITED VERSIONS.

New Old Same Dir En Grey 5

Well I have to say I got the album this pack for half the price on another site but I have to say it is an amazing album. Going from old to new Dir en Grey everything sounds amazing. Them coming to the USA did not hurt them. I think it made them grow more and widen their sound. I love th enew album from start to finish. Also being part Mayan this album scheme feels close to me. Well Dir en Grey is great and I love bands who change and grow but still keep to older feels so this band is amazing. I was at a live show in Boston and although the crowd had some lame Hot Topic kids with there parents that aside the show was epic and i got to meet Toshiya and Shinya that was awesome.

Could have been better 3

I have to say I did enjoy this album quite a bit, but when I, myself think of Dir En Grey; enjoying the album is just not enough. You have to become obsessed with every detail and lyric of their albums to get what they are about. I'm afraid coming to emerika has done them no good, I understand they are trying to adapt to their new found fame. But if anything, it is holding them back from their true roots. I do hope this will not become a habit, I mean for gods sake they are being sponsored by HotTopic.... that's not very Visual Kei

Uroboros Deluxe Edition 4

This is some pretty great stuff from Dir en grey! It was a bit pricy, but people who ordered this have to remember that this came with 2 records, with a special case to hold them, 2 cds, and the bonus DVD. All contained in an awesome case!! The poster was ok, it wasn't a poster of the band but of the album art, and the sticker was like 10x10in. of the album cover, so that was ok. What was amazing is that the song lyrics have been put into a mini book format, with the Japanese lyrics AND English ones. The DVD is great, if you know Japanese, because it's mainly the individual band member being asked a question and then they answer. But if you don't know Japanese like myself, then its kind of sucks to watch and try and figure out what's going on (they're mainly recording the songs). However the Live versions of Toguro and Dozing Green are great!! But if you're tight for money I wouldn't go broke over this. Just buy the regular ed. or the American release one. Especially if you don't even have a vinyl(record) player.
