For whose who are new and wish for a step to step guide on how to search books, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Search CDJapan's Website

Japan is known for having some of the most avid book readers in the world!
At CDJapan, we offer a wide selection of books through our search engine, and we highly recommend searching by
ISBN (13 digits, no dashes) for the most accurate results.Example: 9784832243217. Searching by title or author is not recommended, as romanized spellings may vary.

If a book does not appear in the search results, please try enabling “Show items no longer available” in the toolbar.
In about 90% of cases, the item is listed.
New publications are usually added to our catalog about one month before the official release date.

Step 2: Make a Book Request

If your preferred any book, comic/manga, light novel, artwork or magazine not listed on CDJapan, we will be glad to help you in this matter. Create a customer account or sign in and make a  Book Request.
We will contact the publishers. Meanwhile you will receive confirmation e-mail.
Then, we will reply you in approximately 1-4 days (up to 10 days) regarding the availability and will upload the book on our website.
We remind you we do not sell any kind of dojinshi, rated 18 years old material, and neither shonen magazine.
Note that for this type of request, the book will be directly listed on CDJapan's website.

Step 3: Make a Book Request via Proxy Service

If your requested item can not be listed on our website, you can also make a request for your preferred book via our proxy service. Proxy service is where we purchase items from other online shops that can not be directly listed on our website with additional service fees. Phishing emails

There have been recent reports of users receiving phishing emails that mimic the mail as if they come from CDJapan.
Please make sure to check  the address of the email.
Emails from cdjapan are always sent from the address [cdjapan.co.jp]. Others were sent from different addresses.
Phishing emails have been confirmed that it was sent by an email address that mimics an email from our company, directs you to a fraudulent website, and prompts you to enter your account information.
Please be careful not to click on any links or open any attachments in an email you suspect may be a phishing email.
Please be careful not to open the file attached to the email text, as you risk infecting your computer with malware etc. if opened.
