What a Performance! 5

Where does she get all that energy? Her performance was electric from beginning to end. She slows down for the encore, but who wouldn't? I don't speak a word of Japanese, but still get choked up when she sings Rainy Day, and that smile would melt ice cubes. This show was better than any I've seen in the States, and as a result, I've ordered several more CD's and videos. If she's performing when I visit Japan, I'll be there!

Poor Ayu... 3

this was Ayu's worst CD Live...the performances were great of course except "Startin'" which made the audience and me feel uneasy about the sexuality. In the end, she didn't even shed a tear or stall to say a long goodbye. T____T it's because since Koda Kumi came along, people are forgetting beautiful Ayu and how amazing she really is. She's losing connection with the audience. At first glance, it'd look like her best...but when you really and truly watch it, it drops towards the end. =( I don't blame Ayu...never do I blame her. I blame the fans who let her down alot these days.

A full spectacle of great energy 5

This it is my second Countdowwn Live that I have purchase and not disappoint me. It is huge, impressive by his game of lights and choreographies. A delight for the eyes and an overflowing joy that always gives to us each end of year. Ayu Congratulations You are the best. For all I recommend it.

Another Performance Not to be Missed. 5

There's really no one like Ayumi Hamasaki. And to just listen to her CDs is really to experience only half (or less) of what her talent has to offer. It's her live performances of those excellent songs that so amazing. And this Countdown Live is no exception. While this concert certainly isn't as elaborate as her Arena Tours (after all, it's only for a couple nights whereas a tour is many dates throughout the country), there's more planning, preparation, performers and sheer spectacle here than in several of your typical live concerts from other artists. The standards that made Ayumi-san popular are here, as usual, as well as some very pleasant surprises including an excellent version of Theme of A-Nation '03 and an energy-filled Bold & Delicious complete with choir. And yet, despite the reliance on showmanship, Ms. Hamasaki can simply sit center stage with no elaborate costumes or dancers and mesmerize the audience with her emotional rendition of "Rainy Day" or "Love-Destiny." It's this honest emotion and her ability to develop a performance that fits each song's tone perfectly that really makes her live shows stand out. Highly recommended.

I Loved this 5

Maybe I am biased, but I just love everything Ayumi does. This is my favourite concert of hers so far. I don't know when she will peak, but every time she does something different and it always works. Her new look in this concert is really good. The songs as usual are excellent, she is a born performer. If you are true Ayu fan you will love this. If you are new to her work, then you should still love this. For me the only bad thing about the concert is that it has to end. My favourite songs of hers are Fairyland and Step You so I am lucky as they are both in this concert. I think this concert is excellent. I will never get to see her live in concert so I just hope she keeps releasing dvd's.

She keeps getting better. 5

Once again Ayu has put her New Year's concert on DVD and once again it is great. She even remembers all the words to her own songs this time around. Anyone that picked up last year's DVD will know what I mean. That was very funny. The new songs she does sound great live as well as some of her "standards".

Good, but could be better ... 4

The set, wardobe & performance was on an ok level, thought a little was left for improvement. Allround the concert was good, not quite 2004-2005 countdown quality though. On a side note my copy of the dvd has a little stutter when trying to play it back on a Xbox which is a little downer since its my primary entertainment center, luckily XBMC plays it back ok though with some small errors.

This is another one that is for the hardcore Ayumi followers. They've definately cut back less on the Stage and Costumes, this is more about the songs and her voice. I found the listing quite strange, she did quite a few older songs rather than all of the latest ones. I think that another issue is its easy to compare it to the last CDL which was out of this world and deserves the ratings its been given. I wouldn't advise people against this, but I would recommend the last one instead.

Lots of ups and little downs 4

ok, the reason this one get 4 stars is because last year's countdown was and still is THE best and so it deserves the only 5 star-rating. But to the concert, I have no complaints on the performances, they've been on the same level for some years now, which is awesome. The tracklist was very surprising like usual for a CDL, and I think it's cool. The best songs were definately endless sorrow, because of you, theme of a-nation '03, love ~destiny~ and heaven. It was nice to hear startin' live as well. Oh yeah, bold & delicious was great too. The whole encore was pretty neat actually. So what I didn't like about this one was the sound mix. It was kind of uneven at times, changed in the middle of some songs, which wasn't really pleasing. This doesn't bother in all of the songs though. Well the director could have made some better choices with the cameras or whoever is in charge. When yoshio was doing a solo in some songs they showed the dancers dancing or whatever, which I really didn't like. Yoshio's screentime has been in a decrease lately, which makes me sad. Well the concert is great all-in-all, if you're a fan, you know what to do.

Another great CDL from Ayu! 4

Another great year from Ayu and what a way to end it with a great countdown concert!! This year she performed a much better tracklisting then last years (although compared to 04-05's CDL, this is a little weaker...) including the ever-awesome new songs STEP you, Bold & Delicious and HEAVEN and classics such evolution and endless sorrow. She's still as energetic as always and looks especially beautiful during her breath taking endless sorrow performance!

Awesome and Funny!!!! 5

Ayumi never ceases to amaze me! I just rcvd my DVD copy 2 days ago and I've watched it twice already! I love it! Her introduction appearace in "Step You" is nothing outrageously flashy, but the choreography and the outfits are awesome! It defenitely sets the tone perfectly. She goes into some good oldies song through out the concert (too many of the same ones she does in every concert though). I loved it more when she performed her new singles like "Fairyland", in which she and her dancers looked absolutely adorable, "Bold and Delicous", she got a huge choir to do backup vocals it was so cool, and "Rainy Day" was quiet and very soulful. She also included the same Japanese performers for "Evolution" as she did in her Countdown Live 2004-2005 concert. The funniest part about this concert is when she forgets the lyrics to "Boys and Girls" and mixes up the names of her dancers during the bridge of "Winding Road" at the end! I felt bad for her, but it was so funny! Anyways! Get this concert! Her performance, vocals, and dance moves are the best!

Cool live 4

I never liked the CDL... But when I watch this one I thought that finally there is a CDL wich is "mature" and cool.

Bold&Delicious! 4

Ok ok its not like her other CDLs but it still rocked! She doesnt need fancy costumes to pull of great shows because her voice, emotion, and passio make them great! the track listing was a suprise (A good one) but a suprise non the less because of tracks like Endless sorrow,Theme of a nation and because of you. If you are considering buying this then do it! Also, some of the highlights were the performances of Rainy day, Bold&Delicious and most of all startin! which was performed before its release as a single just recently. So I would deffinetly buy this one! That, or you can wait and buy her (miss)understood tour, or both!

Average Release by Ayu 3

Ayu's concerts have always left an impression on me. This one however, has not. Its practically dull, the performances are amazing but the stage is boring and there really isnt anything special to it. It might be that Im used to seeing extravagant Ayu shows, but this unfortunately was not one of them.

Brilliant way to end 2005. 5

ayumi hamasaki's countdown live for 2005-2006 lives up to the qualities of countdowns past. This countdown however, takes a new more mature turn, as evident by ayumi's new darker hair color and costumes (or lack thereof). ayumi resurrects old gems such as Endless Sorrow and LOVE ~destiny~ in emotion-filled preformances sure to have you memerized in your seat. Bold & Delicious was a great way to end the concert portion of the dvd and is exactly how this dvd can be described as!

Worst CDL yet, but still a good watch. 3

It is evident right from the start that the budget for this was quite low, even compared to her previous CDL's. Despite this, it still had it's good moments, and then there were some bad moments. I paticularly liked the start, in which I thought it was nearly fitting for an Arena Tour. However, after Fairyland, the tracklist took a turn for the worse. Endless Sorrow, Because of You, and especially Theme of A-Nation '03 aren't exactly my favourite songs, and the costumes for these songs were very tacky in my opinion. Even the Boys & Girls and Evolution performances were brought down somewhat by an abysmal red costume. However, Bold and Delicious was definitely the highlight. Her vocals could have been better, but I personally can't get enough of this song, and seeing her sing it with a gospel troupe makes it all the more better. She looks like she is having a great time, which is all that matters to her now it seems. The encore was not bad, quite long, which is good! The acoustic renditions of the ballads accentuated the sorrow and melancholy of the songs even further. Quite a good buy if you fancy the tracklist!

Not her best Countdown but... 3

I was a little disappointed with this Countdown, but basically, because of the tracklist. I think Ayumi should go back to her roots in her music. It was cooler, and so her concerts looked cooler. However, the present live is still a good concert and all the scenario is definitely awesome.
