Alpha +2 [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]AsiaNot mastered well
The art and cardboard sleeve are very well done. The cd was mastered too low, especially the bonus tracks, which are "brick walled", but at a low level. This is very odd because the mastering is usually much better from Cd Japan. Also of note, the CD is a solid aqua color without the Geffen logo to match the lp.

Tejas [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]ZZ TopVery interesting release
This 1976 release produced by Bill Ham was originally engineered quite differently than the two preceeding and very popular releases (Tres Hombres/Fandango). Tejas is apparently remastered from band approved audio, which likely has not been heard in quite a while, if at all. The audio has less of the high end frenquency range heard on the two aforementioned releases. This is not a bad thing, just different. Each song has more of a unique sound production wise and thus, the release is less consistent in sound from start to finish. As far as the mastering on this disc, I am impressed. The peaks in mastering are as they should be. This is not mastered low, Steve Hoffman style, and is nothing like the compressed, fatigue inducing, brick walled releases of today. This disc has excellent dynamic range and clarity. The music breathes and nuances in the instrumentation are apparent. Although I prefer the consistency in sound of Tres Hombres, Tejas is a very entertaining listen. The replica of the tri-fold sleeve and inserts are top notch, and the art on the cd replicates the original lp desert scene. Highly recommended!

Zebra [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD]Zebra feat. Randy JacksonVery good release!
In case your on the fence about ordering this release, I would recommend picking it up. The mastering on this disc is very good. Great dynamic range and not over compressed, if only tad less bright than I would prefer. Recommended.

3.V [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD]Zebra feat. Randy JacksonPerfectly mastered!
In case your on the fence about ordering this release, I would highly recommend picking it up. The mastering on this disc is flawless. Great dynamic range and not over compressed. If only all the releases available here were as perfect as this. Highly recommended!

Not Fragile [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Bachman-Turner OverdriveBetter than the Audio Fidelity Version
By my ears this mini cd release from Japan is superior to the 2011 Audio Fidelity version. Although not perfect (mastered slightly lower than ideal but louder than the AF version), it is vastly superior to the original cd release and is brighter than the Audio Fidelity version. Recommended.

Four Wheel Drive [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Bachman-Turner OverdriveVery good release!
Although not perfect (mastered very slightly lower than ideal), it is vastly superior to the original cd release and the art work and sleeve are top notch. Recommended.

Fair Warning [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [Priced-down Reissue] [Limited Release]Van HalenNot Good
Over compressed recording with a lack of dynamic range. Not as bad as most modern recordings, but not impressive. Van Halen's debut reissue was mastered much better than this. Fair warning!

Candy-O [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]THE CARSGood...not great!
The cover: Nice mini Lp sleeve, with great original cover without the "THE CARS OR CANDY-O" listed. The remaster: Not great. "Night Spots still has the distortion in the right channel at the beginning and has not been clean-up. Also, the loudness war continues. The disc is mastered too loud and is compressed. The Cars "Greatest Hits" disc from several years ago had the mastering nearly perfect. Not this version. Recommended for the artwork and the very nice cardboard sleeve.

Too Hot To Sleep [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]SurvivorEscellent Sound
Very impressive sound on this release with a nice cardboard sleeve and inserts. Highly recommended!

Fahrenheit (Cardboard Sleeve) [Limited Release]TOTOGreat Sound for an average release
Very nice remastered sound for this release. Note: there is no OBI for this release. The cardboard sleeve is shipped with a plastic not removable coating and not the resealable sleeve that is customary with most all mini-lp's. Overall recommended.

KINGDOM OF DESIRE [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [Limited Release]TOTOGreat Sound
Very good remastered sound and nice sleeve and inserts. The bonus track "Little Wing" is a live Luke version without the band. Not a great track or addition to the cd. Overall, very nice and recommended.

Damn The Torpedos [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Tom Petty & The HeartbreakersExcellent!
I think the Tom Petty Mini-Lp cd's have the best mastering of any I've heard. They are not overcompressed and sound amazing. It has nothing to do with SHM. These were just mastered perfectly and sound like they have been dropped down from Heaven. I have the 1979, 1981, 1984 and 1989 releases and they all sound amazing with outstanding clarity and dynamic range. Far superior to the "Playback" release from the mid 1990's. The covers and sleeves of these releases are absolutely gorgeous too. "Southern Accents" is embossed and really stands out. Highly recommended!

Into The Great Wide Open [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Tom Petty & The HeartbreakersOutstanding Mastering!
I'm so impressed with the Tom Petty remastered catalog from Cdjapan. The sound is warm and clean without the dreaded over compression (see loudness wars) that taints so many remasters. These remastered tracks are outstanding compared to the over compressed "Playback" anthology. This cd sounds like it was dropped from Heaven. Buy it!

When Seconds Count [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]SurvivorAwesome!
Outstanding remastered sound and replica of original Lp. I am very impressed with the Survivor remasters and recommend you purchase them before they are out of print!

Midnight Maddness [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Night RangerKick A@@!!!!
I find this remaster to be outstanding! This 1983 release was a great achievement for the band and this remaster has great clarity and depth without the insane levels of compression that mire nearly every current recording. The jacket and sleeve are very nice if not remarkable. Recommended!!!

Big Life [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Night RangerGreat Release!
Another great "Ranger" release, which showcases their abilities at songcraft and flat out Rock. Nice mini-lp replica and disc that is the SHM-cd traditional silver with black lettering. I found the sound to be very good but not necessarily earth shattering. Definitely worth picking up if you're a fan of this great 1980's band.

Southern Accents [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Tom Petty & The HeartbreakersGreat Mastering!
This is an outstanding sounding SHM-cd with excellent mastering and great dynamic range. So many new cd's including some SHM-cd's are over compressed and have no life to the sound. This release sounds warmer and less harsh. Much better than the songs on the "Playback" box set from over 10 years ago. The quality of the paper sleeve is also impressive. The title is embossed and the paper has an aged wood like appearance, without being wood like. Although the release would have been perfect if "Trailer" had been included (one of the brilliant leftovers from the Southern Accents sessions), this is the version to own.

Eye Of The Tiger [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]SurvivorNice Remaster!
Very nice remastered sound with this release from 1982. If you are a fan of early 1980's rock then this is a great purchase.

Hard Promises [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Tom Petty & The HeartbreakersGreat Mastering!
This release was mastered very well without the excessive compression that seems to abound in current recordings. This is the way this excellent release was meant to sound. As far as the cardboard sleeve it is a very nice replication of the original Lp. The cd is the traditional silver with black lettering common with many SHM-cd's. Highly recommended!

Full Moon Fever [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Tom PettyExcellent!
This cd was mastered perfectly, not over compressed and dense. The air between the instruments is present and the clear deep sound stage is a treat to the senses. The cardboard sleeve is absolutely gorgeous too. Pick up this top five T.P. release right away. Your ears will thank you.
