Something Different
I bought this album knowing mostly nothing about Konishi Manami. I watched the sample on this page for the title track and enjoyed it well enough. It is certainly a unique sound. A small google search describes Konishi Manami as an actress, rapper, songwriter. However, if you're turned off by the rapper part and the title song, Here We Go I would say hold up. This album is incredibly varied, no song really sounds alike. The first song, Here We Go is certainly the most rap like song. But get to the second song, Saigo no Hanabi, and it sounds mostly like a traditional J-Pop song. The third song Change My Mind sounds more R&B kind of like mid 2000s Amuro Namie. The album goes on like this.
There doesn't seem to be one cohesive sound to the album which may turn off some. On the other hand it very much feels like a good proof of concept album. All the songs are good but I don't think any particular song stands out above the rest. My favorite track probably being Ai no Taion. Overall a good album, something new and fresh and the singer has a pleasant voice to listen to.
