Galaxy Supernova [Regular Edition]Girls' Generation (SNSD)Absolutely Perfect!
I haven't listened to anything Girls Generation since the catchy English attempt, Boys. After that, I've been so out of the loop when it comes to SM Entertainment's finest. Then boom, Galaxy Supernova lands on the front page of YouTube and I'm immediately pulled in. The song is spunky, energetic, addictive, tastefully done, and very much bringing forth that signature pop rudiment the group is known for. It's not cutey or bubblegum-ish (which is what I used to hate about their songs), but instead, Galaxy Supernova flows magically. That hook is electrifying and hot. I can't get enough of it. The song will definitely stay on repeat even after release, and I see another hit in the Jpop market for Girls Generation. Don't you? I think it's a great comeback to the Jpop market. The single itself is vibracious; a bursting ball of energy, and it embodies great appeal. Guarantee to blow up your stereo. Girls Generation to the universe!

FiveAyumi HamasakiGood Enough to Purchase!
Ayumi Hamasaki never did make a fan out of me, and the main reason for that is because she never got me interested enough to listen to her records. Sure, now and then I'll come across a music video or single that's intriguing but that's where it ended. I admired her beauty and style, but disregarded her talent and why she was so successful to begin with. In fact, Ayumi is one of the most successful and popular female Jpop artist of our time; trust me I did my research. Her sound is described as ever changing, and that's no surprise when she has complete control over her creative decisions, allowing her to experiment and mature as an artist. She never had a failed release, and like all its predecessors, "Five" has topped music charts in her homeland. The mini album is probably the one record that'll lead me into checking out Hamasaki's music more. The EP captures every essence of her art; there's a mixture of balladry and soft rock while balancing her strongest influence, pop. In all honesty, I was a bit weary by the end, but it was a good listen overall.

PlaygirlzAFTERSCHOOLGood. Not Great.
I'm not necessarily impressed but I believe they'll improve because in all honesty, they usually do. Aside from a few remastered/converted singles, 'Playgirlz' is a good first try with sexy new music that rocks. The new tracks sounded great in terms of production and tolerance. Their pronunciation is good on record as well. If you toss those five tracks aside this would be the definition of what a fantastic album sounds like.

Secret DiaryMay J.Solid delivery from an underrated gem.
The title was enough to intrigue me into anticipating the album's arrival but the short clips had me sold. In the entertainment business image is everything, even placed at a higher level than talent. In May's case, it's all about the talent, and of course her beauty is a wonderful addition. I had a good listen to the entire album and was well pleased with the songs. Diversity is very much emphasized; pointing out the singer's ability to challenge herself in different genres. Whether it's electro pop, r&b ballads, or bubbly dance, May J. has proven to me that there's a wide range of 'secrets' in her 'diary'.

Believe [Limited Edition]Che'NelleA brilliantly produced album.
I've never paid any attention to this artist before. But I'm so glad I finally did. Her music is awesome. Taking inspiration from uptempo genres like dance, electro, dancehall, pop, r&b, and soul, "Believe" is one of the best urban Jpop albums of 2012. What can I say? Che'Nelle's a magnificent artist and it's truly a shame that I knew nothing of her music until now. Support the artist and pay more attention to greatness.

Girls' Generation [Regular Edition]Girls' Generation (SNSD)Good First Attempt!
Girls Generation (SNSD) has done exceptionally well over the years in dominating kpop charts and establishing themselves as Korea's top selling girl group. Their fan base spans beyond Asia, crossing international waters. The group has tremendously impacted the industry with their catchy mega hit "Gee", which had everyone singing and dancing to the song. Their first crossover album features poppy numbers along with a few blasts from the past. Girls Generation remains faithful to their kpop roots while attempting another language, and I have to say they're not sounding too bad out of their comfort zone. However, I wasn't blown away. I wish they had done more for their first Jpop album but it's something I can tolerate nonetheless.

Over The Rainbow [Regular Edition]Mai KurakiAll I have to say is wow!
So, just who is Mai Kuraki? Well, not someone I've been listening to for years now so I couldn't possibly begin to decipher her best from her "down" moments. What I can tell you though, is that the Urban Jpop singer's latest and 10th release is astonishing to my ears and I'm completely infatuated with her sound. "Over the Rainbow" solidify s a captivating album with versatility. The artist made the utmost effort in bringing forth something strong and memorable, in terms of musical style and sense. I can't stress enough on my inability to clearly understand and interpret the Japanese language much less any other foreign language outside of my native English, but I do feel the message in her singing and vocally she connects extraordinarily with my soul. In my opinion, every track sells in its own unique way. There are no mistakes, nothing to make me question the producers decisions or talents. All I have to say is wow!
