Love Stinks [Hi-Res CD (MQA x UHQCD)] [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]The J.Geils BandOutstanding!
Epic failure on my part since I didn't have any J.Geils Band albums in my library. Why, I don't know. But when I saw their albums on sale here at CDJapan, I knew I couldn't pass them up. The remastering of the music is outstanding, and I love the cardboard sleeve which recreates the album as it was first released. Liner notes in both English and Japanese always makes for an interesting read. Love the music, love the attention to detail!

World Gone Crazy [Regular Edition]The Doobie BrothersGood buy!
For some reason, the Japanese CD repackaging is simply outstanding. The cd itself faithfully replicates the album cover and the lyrics. The Japanese do great work on the audio remasters, and "World Gone Crazy" has never sounded better. There are extra tracks you can only find on the Japanese version so you do wind up with more music than originally released stateside. Standard jewel case. But, the album cover shown here on CDJapan is wrong. You do receive the original album cover that came with the original release. Recommended!

The Doobie Brothers [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]The Doobie BrothersNice Buy!
For some reason, the Japanese SHM CD repackaging is simply outstanding. The SHM CD itself faithfully replicates the album cover, the lyrics. Thea disc itself has a great look by going throwback and taking artwork from the 33 1/3rd album itself. The Japanese do a great work on the audio remasters, and the debut album by The Doobie Brothers has never sounded better. There are no extra tracks, no b sides that weren't released on the original album, and no outtakes, but who cares? Package the disc like this, and it's a homerun! Beats the stateside release, if you can find the debut album on cd! Recommended. And how!

Midnight Madness [SHM-CD] [Priced-Down Reissue]Night RangerMidnight Madness
The SHM Cd is a solid disc and sounds great. Liner notes are complete, and again, are in English and Japanese. Great eighties rock album from back in the day.

Dawn Patrol [SHM-CD] [Priced-Down Reissue]Night RangerDawn Patrol (SHM CD) Priced Down Reissue
You wouldn't know this was a "Priced Down" reissue of Dawn Patrol's first album. Liner notes are in both Japanese and English, and the SHM CD sounds great.

The House Of Blue Light [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Deep PurpleHouse of Blue Light
I like the Japanese SHM CD 2009 reissue of Deep Purple's "House of Blue Light" and it sounds great. An often underrated and overlooked album from back in the day, it is one of my favorite albums from a great band. The only issue I have is simply this: CDJapan states that the lyrics are included, and they are...but, they're in Japanese only, and they're kind of useless for an English only speaking old man like me. Other than that one minor issue, it's a solid SHM CD remaster. Just wish the liner notes included the Japanese AND English lyrics.

The Doctor [Cardboard Sleeve (Mini Lp)] [Blu-spec CD2] [Limited Release]Cheap TrickThe Doctor...looking for a cure.
Strangely enough this is an album that Cheap Trick didn't even like after it was released. Very quickly recorded and wasn't as streamlined as they liked. I bought it when it was released back in the day and stationed in Alaska with the U.S. Army, and I like the album. It's Cheap Trick, what's not to like? The additional track, "Money is the Route of All Fun" absolutely rocks. I'll never disrespect this album. The packaging on the new remasters is outstanding. I wish the domestic U.S. releases were packaged this well. Gotta hand it to Japan, they've got it down right!

Paradise Theatre [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]StyxOutstanding Remaster/reissue
Styx is one of those iconic Arena Rock Bands from back in the day, and the Japanese SHM CD Remasters are excellent. Sound quality is dramatically improved and the packaging takes you back to the album days of the seventies and eighties. It's a dramatic improvement over the domestic, i.e. American, packages that the record companies have released, and given the bands infighting, the domestic repackaging/remastering stateside will probably never happen. At least Japan gets it right! Don't Let It End!
