Lands the Punch on the Right Note.
Upon hearing of this game, I knew it was going to be something, but I didn't know exactly what. Learning more and more, I found I was slowly being enveloped into its grip. And when I heard there was to be a soundtrack release... I HAD to have it. I ordered the limited edition, and the first thing that struck me was the wonderful packaging. Not only is it graced with Amano's artwork on either side, the package itself had a lovely texture that felt nice to the touch. When I pulled out the contents, I found the art book, decorated with each character and lyrics to all the songs sung by the band "Your Favorite Enemies" in the game.
The music itself was breath taking, filled to the brim with Final Fantasy Favorites and Dissidia originals. The arrangements breathed new life into old songs that made them come alive. There were songs that have not had a re-release in ages, now stand strong. One that stands out in my head from the first disc is ?Battle Scene 2? from Final Fantasy II, which uses a piano and s string duet, which gives it an odd, yet wonderful tone. And also from the first disc lies ?The Decisive Battle? from Final Fantasy VI. It has been arranged before, but this one is true to the original game, using the organ with a slower pace. The second disc also treats us to fabulous arrangements as well, but it lacks the impact the first one did, as several tracks from Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, and Final Fantasy X came directly from the games itself. Further more, Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XII did not get any arrangements at all, but the tracks chosen for all of these were superb songs in their own right, and should not be skipped in the play through. It is a solid soundtrack, and the limited edition was worth every penny I bought it four.
