Z-1 Powder / Chikuhodo Z SeriesMakeup BrushIn love
This is not a brush, it is perfection. It has it all: softness, efficiency, beauty. I don’t think there exists another brush which is as efficient as it is soft and pretty. When you load it with powder, just take a look, you’ll see how well and evenly it picks up. I could powder my face all day long with this beauty. I think I’m in love with my Z-1.

RR-P5 Powder Brush / Chikuhodo Regular Series RedMakeup BrushDisappointed, really
I ordered this for my hard-pressed powder blushes. Sometimes it blends well, sometimes it doesn’t. Not easy to handle for beginners I’d say. You need a light-hand when buffing in products because it feels scratchy when you apply a bit more pressure. I wasn’t expecting the fluffy softness of a blush brush, because it had to be densely packed, but no pokey hairs, for God’s sake-it’s squirrel after all. The gap between the ferrule and hairs is really annoying, too. I thought it would be a dream buffer. Very disappointed.

Z-4 Cheek, Highlight / Chikuhodo Z SeriesMakeup BrushAdmirable
I learned about Z-4 from Fude Kyun on youtube. I purchased RC-2 first (which is also a great brush) and finally Z-4. In time I figured out I like paddle-shape brushes better. Besides, this brush is so admirably designed that all you have to do is swipe it across the pan and then across your cheek. It works no matter which product you use. It picks up everything and blends as you apply. Glides softly and gently. Perfect size, perfect shape, perfect performance. If I had to choose one cheek brush off all the brushes, it would definitely be Z-4.

y-04 Eye Shadow Brush / KOYUDO Yoshiki SeriesMakeup BrushHappy with purchase
I am glad I ordered this brush. Definitely exceeds my expectations. I use it with matte shades to define my lower lash line, which is soooo sensitive and this little pointed brush does not hurt a bit. Not too small, not too big. Soft but firm enough to do what it is intended for, although the brush is not so dense. No idea how they do that.

G-S1 Flat Eye Shadow Brush / Houkodou SORA Brilliant Gold SeriesMakeup BrushMy go-to brush
I wish I had bigger eyes to do justice to this brush. Still, I reach for it often and enjoy the experience. Great with matte shades and so soft and gentle to the eye. The tapered tip enables targeted coloring. Has not shed a single hair. No regrets.

Koyudo White Canadian Squirrel Eyeshadow Brush L Sakura BlackMakeup BrushNot perfect
Not as soft as my Houkodou GS-1. The hairs are thicker than those of the regular CS and much to my disappointment, poky for my delicate crease area. It really hurts when you hold the brush perpendicularly. It shouldn't. With this hefty price tag, I expect perfection. So, if you have sensitive skin, stay away! Go for the regular Canadian squirrel for half the price. The pros :The handle is short but lovely and ergonomic. The shape, density, size of brushhead is ideal for the average eye size. Very efficient brush, for matte shades in particular.

Koyomo hana Pearl White Blush BrushMakeup BrushShedding beauty
Very pretty and soft brush. The handle is unique and ergonomic. Does not pick up hard-pressed blushes easily, but the most important con is that it started shedding a lot the first day and it is still shedding. Not well- bundled apparently. Too bad it ended up being a disappointment. Cdjapan customer service kindly offered to send a replacement but for me Koyomo is a pass for a while.

[CMP551] Eye Brow Liner Brush / Mizuho CMP Series BlackMakeup BrushFirm, dense brush, nice snap but...
I purchased this brush for shadow lining. I was overly optimistic. As it is dense it picks up a lot of color and works fantastically for upper lash line if you like your shadow eyeline thick. Yet, I can't use this for lower lash line. It is too poky for that and hurts real bad. For eyebrows, it works fine as I have bushy eyebrows and can make use of it but don't expect it to mimick individual eyebrow hairs. No precision.

RR-C2 Cheek Brush / Chikuhodo Regular Series RedMakeup BrushEffective cheek brush
This is my first squirrel hair brush. I researched cheek brushes extensively before investing in one. As it feels as light as air, I feared it might not work with my moderately hard-pressed blushes, but it does. You may want to go light-handed with soft pressed blushes; it is highly effective as it is dense. If you want a diffused look on a large area, go in swirling motions, but if you opt for a targeted application, you can swipe the tip back and forth. It is densely packed and bundled well. The only downside is the grip. The handle is somewhat short and light-weight and therefore lacks the firm grip of ergonomic brushes, which I so admire. Yet, this is a good brush and highly effective, too. Received good reviews everywhere I've checked.

G-S2 Flat Eye Shadow Brush / Houkodou SORA Brilliant Gold SeriesMakeup BrushGreat comfort brush
This brush is both soft and effective. It is a big relief to my sensitive eyelids. It glides beautifully over your eyes and applies color with no patchiness whatsoever. I wish the head was just a tad denser, though. For reference, it is similar to Mac 217 in shape, 1 mm shorter, and slimmer due it being squirrel hair. Yes, it is pricey but worth it. You can pack color and blend it in a matter of seconds.
