Kanashimi Twilight [w/ DVD, Limited Edition / Type A]Morning Musumeone of my favourites
This is definitely one of my top favourite singles from Morning Musume. Both "Kanashimi Twilight" and its B-side, "Hand Made City," are fast-paced and exciting and perhaps as close to rock music as Morning Musume will ever get. I definitely recommend this single.

SkySweetSAn awesome single!
I recommend this single as much as it is possible to recommend this single. Though it took the A-side, "Sky," a while to grow on me, now I have come to absolutely adore it. The B-side, "Into the Daylight," is good enough to be a single on its own. I put that song on a mix CD I made for my friend and it's the only song she listens to! Both of the songs on this single are simply amazing, I definitely recommend it.

Ambitious! Yashinetki de Iijan [Regular Edition]Morning MusumeBe Ambitious!
It took a while for "Ambitious! Yashinteki de Ii Jan" to grow on me, but once I accepted its off-beat sound, it became my favourite MoMusu single of 2006. This song is as energetic and wacky as any of their previous hits. The B-side to this single is a song from their 2006 musical "Ribbon no Kishi," and though I haven't listened to it as much as the A-side, it's a nice song with a sweet sound. I definitely recommend this single.

Aruiteru [Regular Edition]Morning MusumeFirst number one single since 2003!
Though it was with this single that Morning Musume achieved their first weekly number one since 2003's "AS FOR ONE DAY," "Aruiteru" is perhaps my least favourite of their singles. The A-side is uninspired and though the B-side, "Odore! Morning Curry," is catchy, it drives me nuts that the entire song is about curry! hahaha. However, I suppose that as a whole the single is far from terrible, and if you like either of the songs it is worth the purchase. But I like Morning Musume for their faster, quirkier songs, and for me, "Aruiteru" just doesn't cut it.

7.5 Fuyu Fuyu Morning Musume. Mini! [w/ DVD, Limited Edition]Morning MusumeMerry Pink Christmas!
I had no idea what to expect with this mini-album, but I was pleasantly surprised. Though none of the songs are groundbreaking, they're all more than enjoyable (well, admittedly I always skip the first song, their thirty-first single's "Aruiteru"). My favourite song off this mini-album is "Kotatsu no Uta ~jyuken story~," sung by Yossie, Eri, and Risa. There is also a Reina solo song, an Ai solo song (with a spoken introduction by Risa), a song by Shigepink and Kohapink, and a song sung by Miki with help from Chisato and Mai, two members of the H!P Kids group C-ute. Included on the DVD are two songs from their fall 2006 tour, "Odore! Morning Curry" and "Aruiteru." Maybe I wouldn't recommend this to be anyone's very first Morning Musume purchase, because it's not as crazy as their usual trademark style. But if you're in the mood for some winter-themed, slightly slower paced MoMusu, then I definitely recommend this mini-album. :)

SWEETS [Regular Edition]SweetShimitsu da yo
Probably one of my favourite J-pop purchases. I'm not a huge fan of SweetS or anything, but after hearing their first three singles I decided to purchase this mini-album, and I was not disappointed. The quality of the songs is amazing. Well, I'll be honest: I've only listened to each of the last three songs once and who knows when I'll listen to them again. But the first five songs are so good that it really doesn't matter. "Lolita Strawberry in Summer" is funky, "Love Raspberry Juice" is energetic and so much fun, "Love Like Candy Floss" is gorgeous while still danceable. "Tear 'Lemon' Drop" and "Lonesome Cherry" are two of the original songs on the mini-album and they are both of single quality. At the time these songs were recorded the girls were only in middle school, but their voices sound great and their talent shows through. Not to mention that the Bounceback team did a great job composing these songs. This is a mini-album I would definitely recommend. :D

Sexy Boy - Soyokaze ni Yorisotte - [Limited Release]Morning MusumeChimata de uwasa no sekushii ue ue!
"Sexy Boy ~Soyokaze ni Yorisotte~" is Morning Musume's attempt at parapara, and while the dance is a little too simplistic (though easy to learn, haha), the song itself is fun and exciting and a bit of a new style for the group, though still energetic as usual. The one problem with the song is that it doesn't build up to anything; but after last year's ridiculous "Chokkan 2," I can easily forgive it that. The B-side is good though not particularly memorable. The instrumental is almost as fun to listen to as the actual song. The limited edition version of the single is a bit of a disappointment. The cover is nicer, in my opinion, than that of the regular edition, but the photocards are boring and not worth the extra price. Aside from that, I really enjoy this single. It's another fun song from Morning Musume. :)

Special GenerationBerryz Kobohold on my love
"Special Generation" took a while to grow on me, but now I believe it to be one of Hello! Project's best songs. Energetic and fun and really great music. The single's B-side, "Koi Shiteru Toki wa Itsumo ...," is a gorgeous ballad that shows off the girl's voices very nicely. This single comes very highly recommended, I love it to pieces. :D

COLORSHikaru UtadaI don't think life is quite that simple
I bought this single mostly for "Simple and Clean" and its remix. Both "Simple and Clean" and "Colors" are good songs, but I've heard "Colors" so many times now that it's sort of lost its appeal. However, I do enjoy the remix of "Simple and Clean" quite a bit, which is why I can still give this single a four out of five. :)

ESCAFLOWNE Original Soundtrack 3Animation(music:yoko kanno)anata wo ai shiteru
I'm a big fan of Escaflowne and so of course I love its music, composed mostly by Yoko Kanno and Hajime Mizoguchi. And so of course I greatly enjoyed this CD, even more than I enjoyed the second of the Escaflowne soundtracks (though perhaps not as much as the first ;) ). "Short Notice" is the music used for the "Next Episode" previews "Arcadia" is a bit of an opera song, the beginning is heartbreaking and used several times near the end of the series "Epistle" is in the same vein as the earlier "Dance of Curse," great clashing fighting music "Farewell" features some lovely piano "Aoi Hitomi" is a soft piece sung by Maaya Sakamoto, using the same tune as the earlier "Memory of Fanelia" "Perfect World" is used in the Atlantis arc and unfortunately it's a bit bland compared to the other songs on this CD "Blaze" is one of my favourite pieces used in the series, a sad piece with a choir that is sometimes used for battle-ish scenes "Hikari no Naka e" features Maaya Sakamoto again and is so gorgeous I would definitely recommend this soundtrack to a fan of Escaflowne. :) It's a bit darker than the two soundtracks which preceded it, but definitely worth a listen. :D
