Sweetest [w/ DVD, Limited Edition]SugarTreasure
One of the best Visual Kei albums. Buy this before it's out of print. Masterpiece. The album is very well put together in terms of composition, vocals, and tracklist order.

Esoteric Romance [Regular Edition]VidollFantastic First Major Album
I've been following Vidoll since they were on the Matina label, and since then they have progressed and matured over the years. Their first major album effort on Nippon Crown showcases a sophisticated romantic sound with edgy bass, great guitar/drum work, cool synth, and fantastic vocals. Some fans of their previous work may not like their current direction, but I suggest giving it a chance. It's different, but is great on its own.

Maimu X'mas Ver [Regular Edition B]VidollPretty Cool
I really liked this release. I chose this version because I like to listen to their other Christmas-themed songs during the holiday season and wanted to add this tune to my collection. I was worried about their direction for a while but this release regained my interest. I think it's a very solid release.

Aesthetic Violence: TERU Ver. [w/ Perfume, Limited Edition]VersaillesMasculine and Light
I originally rated Hizaki's version of Aesthetic Violence a "1" because I was so shocked on what I had received. I bought this one knowing what was included and so I wasn't shocked, except in an extremely happy way. I'm male, and Hizaki's version was nice, but it was way too powdery and feminine. Teru's fragrance is soft and masculine. It has a very nice light and airy smell. I love it and I wish there was a bigger bottle that I could order. The necklace that's included is a trasparent glass square, which is also more to my liking as opposed to Hizaki's heart-shaped one. If any male Versailles fans are reading this and are hellbent on ordering an Aesthetic Violence but aren't sure which to purchase, buy this one! It's great.

Jappanesque Rock Collectionz Cure DVD 03VidollFunny
A funny DVD release by Vidoll. I really enjoyed the Giru/Shun/Jui segment, as well as Rame vs. Shun. I also really liked the live perfomance of Jui's former band "Luinspear". It was a real treat to watch.

Bastard [w/ DVD, Limited Edition]VidollA Great CD
I like this album, but there are some things I'm not so pleased about. There is a lot of variety and experimentation which is great. There are even a couple of tracks where Jui raps. The problem I have with this album is the fact that Rame's bass is virtually nonexistant here. I mean I can hear it but it's definately not as prominent here. It's upsetting because I became interested in Vidoll mainly due to the loud pronounced basslines. I appreciate the fact that they are experimenting, though. Their sound is now "more sophisticated" as Giru once said. The DVD was also very cool to see. It's footage from their Jrock Revolution performance in Los Angeles. The offshot could have been better, though. They're walking around Los Angeles with the song Cloud in the background, but I think it would have been better to actually hear them and what was going on around them. Still, all that said, it's a really good album.

Lyrical SympathyVersaillesFantastic
A fantastic first mini-album release by Visual Kei band Versailles. I'm pretty happy with it overall. My favorite tracks are probably Forbidden Gate, Sympathia and The Love From a Dead Orchestra, even though I love them all.

Curse of virgoHIZAKI grace projectBeautiful
This minialbum was a beautiful release. I enjoyed all of the tracks, and I think Hizaki's instrumentals are his best. I particularily loved Aphrodite, Calm, and of course Race Wish. The CD-extra content of bonus pictures was also a nice little feature with very high-quality photos. An enjoyable release.

Aesthetic Violence: HIZAKI Ver. [w/ Perfume, Limited Edition]VersaillesDisappointing
I'm rating this a 1 simply because I was very disappointed with this release. I feel the description is very misleading and I took "concert DVD" to mean a full recorded live, like many others. Once I realized that the perfume was supposed to be the main product I was a bit shocked. I figured the perfume must be a decent size then, but I was once again disappointed to find out that there's only 5mL. What you get with Aesthetic Violence is: -a fancy digipak-style cardboard box -5mL glass cylinder bottle of perfume (in this case Princess Stairs), red heart-shape glass necklace with gold chain, and plastic eyedropper to transfer perfume into the heart necklace -DVD with a live clip to the song "Shout&Bites" with the studio track slapped over it, and an interview with the band member you purchased (in this case HIZAKI) The price is quite expensive for what you're getting. I strongly suggest reasearching what you're really getting before purchasing.

3C Storm TV - Sunaarashi Hoso - 2006.8.29 SHIBUYA-AX [Limited Release]VidollAn enjoyable performance
I really enjoyed this concert DVD. All of the members look energetic and seem to be having a great time. I really love the costumes, as well. Seeing them in action on-stage was a real treat. I have a couple of problems with this DVD, though. I really dislike that dark blue light they used on stage a couple of times. It didn;t look very pleasing to the eye when it hit the stage. Pretty distracting. The only other thing I can think of is the ending credits being shown over the last song "wagahai wa korosuke nari". I thought that was pretty distracting, too. I would have preferred them to be shown after the song was finished. Still, a very enjoyable DVD that I continue to watch.

SEX POT Chain (Z) SD37001-102SEX POT ReVeNGeHigh Quality
I love this necklace! The "lock" is smaller than I thought, which is fantastic because I feared it would be too big. The detail of the logo on the lock is really great, as well. I'm completely satisfied with my purchase.

Mirror [Limited Edition]D'espairsRayMirror Mirror on the Wall
D'espairsRay prove to be one of the greatest Visual acts Japan has to offer right now. This album is simply spectacular. Those who fear that this album will be too "light" sounding, think again. There is lots of variety in this album, unlike their previous album Coll:Set. Coll:Set is good but I felt they were really trying to play it safe, maintaining the dark sound they're known for. In this album however, they explore different styles while still having that hard rock edge D'espairsRay do so well. HIZUMI's vocals are outstanding on this disc, especially in the song "MIRROR". Karyu's guitar skills, as well as Tsukasa's drumming skills are also fantastic here. Zero's bass is a great addition to the music, but I feel he rarely gets an opportunity to show what he's really made of, and that's one thing I'd really like to hear in the music, more prominent bass. Overall this album is spectacular. If you are a fan of hard rock, visual kei, or just rock music in general, buy this CD.

CorvinusASAGI(D)Flies High
This first solo effort from ASAGI is great and truly "flies high." The title track "Corvinus" is my absolute favorite on this CD and is purely ASAGI at his best. Track two, "Unknown" is another great song, making this CD the best single of 2006 for me. The PV to "Corvinus" is also stunning and has some really nice shots of ASAGI, particularily the scenes where it's as if it's raining black feathers around ASAGI. Overall a highly enjoyable single with ASAGI's powerful and moving vocals, and I hope ASAGI will create a full solo album in the future. A definate recommend if you can find it.

V.I.D - Very Important Doll [Type A] [CD+DVD]VidollSpectacular!
Vidoll have created a masterpiece with this album as far as I'm concerned. I love every song on this album and I can't get enough of it. One of the great extras to this album is the fact that there's a song composed by each member. Another great extra is the bonus PV for "Orihime." This was my favorite track on their Nectar single so I was pleased to see it as a PV. Overall the PV is quite fun and I recommend it. Both newcomers and fans of Vidoll should definately purchase this album, it's absolutely fantastic.

V.I.D - Very Important Doll [Type B]VidollSpectacular!
Vidoll have created a masterpiece with this album as far as I'm concerned. I love every song on this album and I can't get enough of it. One of the great extras to this album is the fact that there's a song composed by each member. Another great extra is, of course, the bonus track "RoiD-Chang" which definately isn't a weak track. Both newcomers and fans of Vidoll should definately purchase this album, it's absolutely fantastic.

Nectar [CD+DVD / Type A]VidollFantastic
I've been a fan of Vidoll for a long time, and I must say that this single is my favorite that Vidoll have put out so far. Giru and Shun are proving to be two amazing additions to Vidoll and I hope their upcoming album is just as great if not moreso, than this single. Both of the tracks (Nectar and Orihime) are very impressive. The PV of SinAI is included in this single and is very well shot and quite fun. Fans of Vidoll definately need to pick this up, and even if you're a newcomer to Vidoll and this is your first purchase, I still recommend it.

Nectar [CD+DVD / Type B]VidollImpressive
I've been a fan of Vidoll for a long time, and I must say that this single is my favorite that Vidoll have put out so far. Giru and Shun are proving to be two amazing additions to Vidoll and I hope their upcoming album is just as great if not moreso, than this single. Both of the tracks (Nectar and Orihime) are very impressive. The PV of Gothikaroid is included in this single and, like the SinAI PV in typeA, very well shot also. The atmosphere suits the style of the song very well. I definately recommend both singles because the two PVs in each type are my favorite PVs from them thus far. I am also a huge fan of the costumes they're wearing for these releases. Fans of Vidoll definately need to pick this up, and even if you're a newcomer to Vidoll and this is your first purchase, I still recommend it.

Imperial ConcertoLAREINEMarvelous
LAREINE are a fantastic band. This single compilation is just wonderful. All of the songs shine so bright on this CD, and the packaging is simply gorgeous. There is also a new version of Vampire Romance on this CD as the last track and it's quite good. Please buy this CD and support LAREINE.

Sakura / Drama [Limited Edition]LareineAnother Great Release!
This is another very good release by this band. LAREINE have been around for a while and they still got it. Both of the tracks seem to contrast one another in title, but together they fit perfectly. For the band member photocard that also comes in the release, I also got Kamijo. ^^

Yami yori Kurai Dokoku no Acappella to Bara yori Akai Jonetsu no Aria [w/ DVD, Limited Edition]DSimply Stunning!
I love this single very much. The title track is very very good and shows just what this band is capable of doing. Asagi's vocals truly shine on this single, as does the guitar work by Ruiza and HIDE-ZOU. The main highlight of this release though, is the PV to the title track, it is simply beautiful and extremly well shot. A definate purchase for any D fan.
