[Live Action Movie] Prince of Tennis Premium Edition [Limited Release]Japanese MovieFor Prince of Tennis fans!
It's great to finally see an actual live action movie for Prince of Tennis! There was a lot of CG involved with the special moves, but that's really the fun in all of the almost unbelievable moves pulled by middle schoolers, isn't it? Above the general Prince of Tennis hype, it has a lot of fan service for all of those who are fans of the Musicals themselves, showing quite a few myu actors past and present. It's quite a difference seeing them on an actual film production than just performing the musical onstage; it gives you a different view of their acting. And although Hongou Kanata replaces our main character from Seigaku, I think he pulled it off really well. The premium edition itself was pretty awesome with the photo extras, etc. The [serial-numbered] piece of the actors' clothing that is included is also rather... interesting. So, if you want to make sure to get something actually touched by one of the actors, make sure you grab the premium edition over the regular edition. ;) Everything was in such high quality. I love it!

Shinobi (English Subtitles) Premium Edition [Limited Release]Japanese Movieromeo & juliet: ninja style
admittedly, i pre-ordered this because i'd recently become a fan of nakama yukie. whatever possessed me to get the ultimate edition, i don't know... but i fell in love with it when i stumbled onto the movie's main website. the movie is presented in the artistic style of japanese cinema, showing beautiful landscapes... and arts bordering on magic. i could only wish for a few more fight scenes... and a display of actual strength from the villages by the most powerful ninjas that rank after the chosen ones...

Love Letter (English Subtitles)Japanese Movielove for love letter
"love letter" is my most favorite shunji iwai film... ever. i love the beatiful, quiet air about the story. i love how the the reflection in the story, although done a little late. the main cast did such a great job in bringing the story to life. i have to admit that this was my first japanese movie purchase... it was picked completely at random, and i'm extremely pleased for having picked this title.

Please save my earth Vol.1Animationa classic
it's a little disappointing that there are only 6 episodes (and a review movie, and some music videos to cover a few gaps) that attempts to cover all 21 volumes of the manga, but the production is beautiful nonetheless. i've always loved the way it was animated and the bgm chosen for the series.. despite the shortness of the series, it does get one curious enough to explore further into the story. if you were lucky enough or right on the ball when it was first released, you may have gotten a copy with the limited edition box, which, in my opinion, was also quite lovely.

The Cat Returns (Neko no Ongaeshi) / Ghiblies Episode 2 (short film) (English Subtitles)Animationthe cat returns
there is always a special place for ghibli movies in my heart. with one of the characters (baron) being taken right out of my favorite ghibli movie (whispers of the heart), this dvd was a must-get. the story could be construed as slightly different than their normal productions, as there really wasn't as much of a moral emphasis that seems to characterize the studio. it was a fun, funny adventure, and i love it for that.
