Twice Removed From Yesterday [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD]Robin Trowermuffled sound removed
This album has always had a muddy sound quality on US and UK releases. The new Japanese mlps version is a fantastic sound quality improvement. There is now upper mid-range and treble clarity. I highly recommend this to anyone to truly hear this album for the first time. The other four releases are a nice sound upgrade from all previous versions also. Three of them (including this one) also have bonus tracks.

Heart Like A Wheel [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Linda Ronstadtbig wheel
I have this album on 4 different discs: (Capitol collection, Raven, remaster with bonus and this Japanese mini sleeve). This is the best sound it has ever had. Smooth clean and clear. The album itself is probably her best. All of the songs are excellent and there is no filler. I highly recommend this one.

Wheels Of Fire +4 [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]CreamTarnished Gold
This edition comes with a beautiful gold cover. I was very excited about this until I started to get the disc out of the outer plastic. The glue stuck to the cover and pulled some of the gold foil off. The cover was ruined before I could even get it out of the packaging. This glue on the outer plastic covers is very messy and unneeded. The discs themselves sound fine and there are some bonus tracks.

Live Alive [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Troubledead alive
You get mini sleeve and you get bonus tracks. You do NOT get remastered sound. The idiots who went to all of the trouble to put this out without improving the sound should be taken out and whipped!
-
Family Style [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]The Vaughan Brothersfamily slush
You get mini sleeve and a bonus track. You also get the almost 20 year old sound quality. It is a shame this was released without remastering the sound.

Performance [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Humble Piehot performance
This is a great release. The mini sleeve packaging is first rate. The performance is excellent. The sound quality is first rate due to an outstanding remastering job. This disc also helps to prove what a sham SHM is. Compare these live tracks to the live tracks on the SHM version of Humble Pie "Hot and Nasty" anthology and see the difference remastering makes. Then compare the SHM Hot and Nasty to the old original Hot and Nasty and see that they sound the same! The sound improvements of SHM discs come from REMASTERING not the price increasing SHM disc!!

Wind Of Change [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]Peter Framptongood wind
This is the best re-issue of this great album. It has obviously been remastered, which improves the sound. It is also SHM-cd, which only adds to the price. The packaging is also first rate.

Monolith [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]KANSASkansas
This is a great re-issue of a highly underrated album. The packaging is excellent with the mini sleeve and copy of the original lp inner sleeve. The lyrics are included also. The remastering is superb. It is loud and strong but not distorted. This album is solid from start to finish with great songs and performances. I highly recommend it.

Ladies and Gentlemen [Cardboard Sleeve]Emerson Lake & Palmerwelcome
This lower priced re-issue has the awesome k2hd sound and the mini-sleeve. The price reduction comes from omitting the lyric booklet usually associated with these versions. A song list is provided on some slick pages instead. It is still an excellent package and good value. I just can't say enough good things about k2hd. It is a REAL sound improvement instead of a gimmick like the new SHM-cds.

Spitfire [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release][Priced-down Reissue]Jefferson Starshipit does
This is not the best release by this version of the Jefferson Starship but it is worthy anyway. The cardboard sleeve is very well done. The sound is FANTASTIC! The k2hd process is rivaled only by DSD. It is powerful but clean. If you like Jefferson Starship at all, then these new editions are worth the money.

Red Octopus [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release][Priced-down Reissue]Jefferson StarshipIt'll grab you
Awesome. This new k2hd paper sleeve version blows away all previous versions. The sleeve duplicates the gold foil of the original lp. The sound is just unbelievable!! Bonus tracks with the single version of "miracles" and some live tracks. This and the other Jefferson STARSHIP titles have been rebuilt to the max.
-
Surrealistic Pillow [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]Jefferson Airplanealmost
This was a slight disappointment. It is NOT k2hd remastered as stated.(The Jefferson Starship titles ARE k2hd remastered and they sound Fantastic!!!) It seems to have the regular 2003 remastering. It does sound good and has the mini sleeve format and 6 lbonus tracks. JA's second album (first with Grace Slick). Contains the big two: "Somebody To Love" and "White Rabbit", as well as several other great cuts. Just wish it was k2hd.

Are You Experienced ? [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]The Jimi Hendrix Experienceare you kidding?
SHM-CD. They should add an A and just call them SHAM-CD. I have the Experience Hendrix versions and I cannot tell any difference between that version and this new version. If you already have a previous remaster, don't waste your money on this new gimmick.

Joplin In Concert [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]Janis Joplindown on sound
I was really looking forward to this release. The double disc and gatefold mini sleeve is well done. The usual high quality Japanese extras with these mini lp releases are all here. Then there is the sound quality. This release doesn't even sound as good as the years old single disc US version. The sound clarity is about equal with slightly lower levels. With all of the advanced technology (DSD and K2) it is a disgrace to put out something that doesn't stomp all over an old version. Check out the new Jefferson Starship releases if you want to hear something done right.

This is a great item. Paper sleeve is excellent. The sound quality is a huge improvement over previous versions. Great songs and great playing and singing by the band. I highly recommend this item.

This is a very nice package. Great remastered sound and a neat assortment of extra packaging and bonuses. I highly recommend this edition.
-
Tilt [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]Cozy Powellsolid
The sleeve is nice and the sound is good but not an improvement over previous editions. I recommend this IF you do not have a previous edition.
-
Fresh Cream [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]Creamcurdled?
The sleeve is very nice. The sound is a disappointment. It is good but not top-notch like most of these mini-sleeve versions of classic rock.

Pictures At An Exhibition (Cardboard Sleeve) [Limited Release]Emerson, Lake & Palmerclear pictures
This is the absolute best sounding version of this release! The cardboard sleeve is excellent. The sound far surpasses the junk from US and UK.

Look Into The Future [Cardboard Sleeve] [Limited Release]Journeysmooth journey
This is a great cd. A glimpse of the original pre-Perry version of the band. The cardboard sleeve and other usual high quality packaging is all here. The sound is also up to the usual high standards of Japanese pressings. It is a huge upgrade over the US pressing and is well worth the money.
