VictoryWHITE WIDDOWDecent Modern AOR, Not Their Best VictoryWHITE WIDDOWDecent Modern AOR, Not Their BestWhile White Widdow is a great band, their most recent album is probably the least impressive. It’s not bad per se, but it’s simply not great; I can’t name one stand out track. Victory isn’t the album I go to when I need a WW fix, nor would I suggest it as a gateway record to someone who has never heard them before. I can only strongly suggest it to the diehards.

The Wings Of WarOVERKILLSolid Modern Thrash The Wings Of WarOVERKILLSolid Modern ThrashTWoW isn’t essential modern thrash, but it’s still extremely good considered Overkill has been doing this forever. Last Man and Bat are great tracks, but Garden State is very silly. Only a must for Overkill or old school thrash fans

White Devil ArmoryOver KillLegitimately Great Album White Devil ArmoryOver KillLegitimately Great AlbumI don’t know how Overkill continued to put out great music, but they do. WDA is a great thrash album from 2014 that punches you right in the gut after the intro with Armorist (an earworm song). Smoke, Freedom and King are standout tracks. Must buy modern thrash.

Kids In A Ghost Town (Deluxe Edition) [SHM-CD]NESTORSolid Faux-80s But NOT Their Best Kids In A Ghost Town (Deluxe Edition) [SHM-CD]NESTORSolid Faux-80s But NOT Their BestNestor’s debut is a solid album full of expertly-crafted songs and musicianship. On The Run and 1989 are classics, however, many other songs are just filler. Still worth getting but their NEXT album is basically perfect. Get the SHM-CD for the extra tracks!

Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt Ohtagaki Yasuo ARTWORKS: Thunderbolt Art WorksYasuo Ohtagaki, Hajime YatateA remarkable collection of art Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt Ohtagaki Yasuo ARTWORKS: Thunderbolt Art WorksYasuo Ohtagaki, Hajime YatateA remarkable collection of artThere was a big poster in it, and when I thought it was crazy, there was another one at the end. I'm collecting posters, so I'm thankful for that. The art book is all in color, up to about 213 pages. Illustrations of Gaiden are also included. I don't use text or black and white to earn pages, so I think it's impressive enough. Recently, every art book has few pages but is expensive, and I'm satisfied with the content, but I don't know if it's worth the price, but I don't think there's any need to worry. For the first time in a long time, I came across an art book that was impressive and I was more than satisfied with the price.

Abiko Yoshikazu no Rekishi GahoYoshikazu YasuhikoMasterpiece Abiko Yoshikazu no Rekishi GahoYoshikazu YasuhikoMasterpieceI was taken with them to buy it, and I am glad I bought it. I have a lot of sympathies with the artist way of drawing warm characters. If you look only at the eyes, there is an image that the characters are the same even if they are different, but it may be fair to say that they are unique characters and personalities. Gundam characters are somewhat unique, but maybe it is only with Mr. Yasuhiko pictures that they look like ideal images. Every picture is fascinating, and you'll want to keep looking at Yasuhiko Yoshikazu forever.

Kusamori Shuichi Animation ArtworksKusamori ShuichiGood book Kusamori Shuichi Animation ArtworksKusamori ShuichiGood bookKusamori was responsible for landscape depictions in films such as GHOST IN THE SHELL 2: Innocence (created by Masamune Shirow, directed by Mamoru Oshii), Metropolis (created by Osamu Tezuka, written by Katsuhiro Otomo, directed by Rintaro), X (created by CLAMP, directed by Rintaro), which are said to be the pinnacle of Japanese animation art, along with the PSYCHO-PASS series. These works are not reproductions of real cityscapes or nature, but rather were painted as imaginary landscapes to show the world of science fiction and fantasy. But the book format is not one of my favorities. The book is quite small and some pages look like that had been cut incorrectly. Recommended if you are a great fan of this author.

Tamamori Junichiro's Space Battleship Yamato Mechanical Artworks: YAMATO MECHANICS 2001-2025Tama Mori Jun Ichiro / Iori No Hideaki / Voyager Horudeingusu KabushikigaishaPerfect Space Battleship Yamato Book Tamamori Junichiro's Space Battleship Yamato Mechanical Artworks: YAMATO MECHANICS 2001-2025Tama Mori Jun Ichiro / Iori No Hideaki / Voyager Horudeingusu KabushikigaishaPerfect Space Battleship Yamato BookAll illustrations that fans want to see have been recorded without omission, including illustrations published on the site that Mr. Tamamori used to run. The number of pages is necessary and sufficient, and it takes quite a bit of time to look at every corner. The excellence of Yamato's design was almost completed in the initial setting drawn by Kazutaka Miyatake, but in the second work, it became a simple line due to the habit of Mr. Tomonori Kogawa, and it changed to something like a childish toy. As a result, many fans have come to envision an ideal shape called “I'm Yamato,” which is different from the anime version. I've always thought, “I can draw Yamato in a cooler way than TV animators.” Highly recommended book!!

Umezu Yasuomi Animation Works: UnfinishedUmezumi YasuomiA bit disappointing Umezu Yasuomi Animation Works: UnfinishedUmezumi YasuomiA bit disappointingA book with content I would never buy if I could read it standing up. “Wizard Barristers Benmashi Cecil Umetsu Yasuomi Design Works” and “Messo Perfect File,” which were sold in the past, were better. There are too many revised original images and storyboards that are close to black and white, and there is no reference value.

Inoue Takehiko Vagabond Illustrations: SumiTakehiko InoueAwesome Book Inoue Takehiko Vagabond Illustrations: SumiTakehiko InoueAwesome BookI have bought both WATER and Sumi and before I received them, I did not expect a lot because I know it is a collection from comics drawings during Vagabond was ongoing in the past 8 years. However, after I got the actual book in my hand, I know that it is correct to buy both books. The large size of the book with high quality printing and vibrant colors (and the outstanding drawings by Mr. Inoue) have brought life to the characters. My excitment in reading Vagabond has all returned when I flip through the pages recalling the stories. I think all Vagabond fans must buy both books as a collection item. You will not regret it. Even non Vagabond fans can also learn the drawing techniques from Mr. Inoue through these books.

Inoue Takehiko Vagabond Illustrations: WATERTakehiko InoueGenius Watercolor Inoue Takehiko Vagabond Illustrations: WATERTakehiko InoueGenius WatercolorAmong the overwhelming majority of works that can only be seen in black and white, such as a single book, you can see everything in watercolor. I have a whole book, but by looking at the watercolor painting, each person and every one of the scenery are revived to life.

Sin After SinJudas PriestAlmost a Metal Classic Sin After SinJudas PriestAlmost a Metal ClassicThis is almost a Priest classic with tracks like Sinner, Starbreaker, Dissadent and Diamonds … but personally, I thought most of the reliant trackers were filler. Still, most people will definitely want this CD in their collection!!

Metallica (Remaster Deluxe) [SHM-CD] [Regular Edition]MetallicaA Classic Album & Great Remaster Metallica (Remaster Deluxe) [SHM-CD] [Regular Edition]MetallicaA Classic Album & Great RemasterThe Black album is iconic; there isn’t anything I can tell you about it that you don’t already know. As far as the SHM-CS remaster is concerned, this IS definitely an upgrade in sound although the Black album already sounded pretty great. The demos and live tracks are cool too

Last Live [2CD] [SHM-CD] [Regular Edition]Thin LizzyGreat Live, Late Era Lizzy Last Live [2CD] [SHM-CD] [Regular Edition]Thin LizzyGreat Live, Late Era LizzyThunder & Lightning is my favorite Lizzy album, but that’s because I’m a huge fan of Mr. John Sykes’ playing and writing style. So, Life: Live has all the T&L tracks I could reasonably hope for, as well as the standard classics. Although, Heart Attack sounds been awesome … highly recommended!

TOKYO LIVE [Blu-spec CD]Yngwie MalmsteenDecent Live Effort TOKYO LIVE [Blu-spec CD]Yngwie MalmsteenDecent Live EffortThis is a decent live effort from Malmsteen. He sounds great as always, but the recording is a bit thin, I would have preferred a bit more from his earlier catalogue and Relentless Fury would have been great as performed in its entirety

HopeHarem ScaremAn Average Harem Later Release HopeHarem ScaremAn Average Harem Later ReleaseI’m a big fan of Harem Scarem, especially their first 3 albums. However, and while much of their later output isn’t exactly “phoned in,” it’s simply nothing special beyond being standard modern AOR. No stand out tracks here, but it’s still a good effort. Worth a listen

British Steel [Blu-spec CD2]Judas PriestAnother Priest Classic British Steel [Blu-spec CD2]Judas PriestAnother Priest ClassicBreaking the Law, Grinder. Living After Midnight … it’s all here, with the classic Priest line-up. Dimebag had the Priest razor hanging around his neck, Welch tells you how influential this album is. A must have in your collection!!

Defenders Of The Faith [Blu-spec CD2]Judas PriestAn Almost Perfect Album Defenders Of The Faith [Blu-spec CD2]Judas PriestAn Almost Perfect AlbumGood lord, this is almost as perfect as they come: this classic Priest lineup creates what is arguably their best album. From the opening Freewheel to Jawbreaker to Ride Hard, and my favorite Priest song ever with Some Heads Are Gonna Roll, this must have album needs to be in your metal collection if it isn’t already.
