Awesome. 4

Overall, this is a really, really great cd. I really enjoyed it alot. I actually saw MUCC on the Taste of Chaos tour about a week before the cd was released and they played a bunch of new songs and it was really cool. But, as an old-school MUCC fan I do feel it isn't one of their best cds. But some of the songs (like Fukurou no Yurikago) are really amazing and have a great newer sound. But it's still a great listen! ^_^

Decent. 2

I've been following MUCC since 2004, so I am an established fan. I like them mainly because of their musical versatility. Shion did disappoint. In Shion, MUCC throws together ballads, really P.O'd rock, anthems, and a handful of catchy songs. This album is more hard-rock and electronic than their previous major releases. However, some of the songs did not have the buildup to the chorus that you would expect from MUCC which is where the album is weak. I did not like the filter that they applied to Tatsu's voice in nearly every song. Miya's guitar also drowns him out. You will not find Tatsu's famous vocal harmonies in this album, but you will find screaming and his voice trying to crack. The guys got a little too background-music happy in this album. Not as good as Gokusai or Houyoku, but still a solid album if you don't mind the cheap voice filters, muddled guitar, and would like a semi-throwback to their old days. "Semi-" as in, if they were bad. If this is your first MUCC album purchase, reconsider another album. This album should only be bought by MUCC fans that know them well; This album was too long and flat.

my review of my first MUCC CD..... 5

I am addicted to this album. It is fun, sad, energetic, and all sorts of other things I can't articulate. Just a couple days ago I listened to it over and over and over. To me, it's just classic. MUCC is my favorite group, after Dir en grey. In my opinion they never disappoint. I have quite a few favorites from this CD. If you're reading this, you definitely need to buy it.

It's surprising, but the album is much more hard than Gokusai! Pop trash like Flight hurts, but there are many good songs. MUCC isn't dead yet )

New sound, same MUCC we all love! 5

Tracks 8, 9, and 10 are by far my favorites on this album. It's a slightly new sound for MUCC, but still filled with everything we all have come to know and love about them. I truly have to admit, after seeing some of these songs live earlier this month, I'm completely i love with MUCC's sound. They're running a close second to my #1 band and that's definitely saying something good!
