As I listen to Sgt. Pepper’s now, I have nothing but gratitude for what it stands for today and for what it did back then in the 60s, but yet I respect it the most for the strength as a timeless collection of songs. They have never diminished in their strength to me, never once becoming skippable on a listen through the album's entire length.
[Encore Pressing] Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release] Customer Reviews
The Beatles
First off, this is NOT an audiophile review. I am reviewing this release from a purely aesthetic point of view. This stereo SGT. PEPPERS... mini LP SHM-CD is excellent! The laminated mini LP cover and gatefold jacket are perfect. This release is as stunning as it's Mono Box counterpart. The one flaw many of the mini LPs in this set unfortunately feature is not an issue with this release. The title on the spine is flawless. This encore release features a resealable outer sleeve with a blue sticker (as opposed to the 1st pressing red sticker), a nice OBI, the 2009 booklet identical to the one released with the digipak version, and an additional booklet with song lyrics in English. Also included is a rice paper sleeve and the reproduced psychedelic paper sleeve to house the disc itself, as it was with the original UK-released album. The actual disc features a reproduced PARLOPHONE lable. You also get a sized-down reproduction of the cardboard cutouts that came with the original album. Overall, a great collectable!
Another dimension of listening CDs in shm are among the finest on the market . A sgt peppers was lifted a veil Gorgeous Japan editions are still the best
Do not get me wrong, this is a High Quality pressed CD with a nice Papersleeve, but nothing more! I have compared it back to back with the 2009 Standard CD and this CD is bit identical. SHM adds nothing to the soundquality. They used the same bass heavy and compressed digtal 2009 Remasters. The only differences I could find out, is that this SHM-CD is louder than the Standard CD. I do not understand what the fuzz is all about, since it is still a 16 Bit Redbook CD. If they had released it as SHM-SACD or Blu-Ray Audio or even DSD Flat Transfer CD using HR Cutting, this would be something else! I am a High End nuts and Musician with fine tuned and trained ears and I really can not hear any improvement.
GREAT ALBUB,ENHANCED BY JAP-SHM REISSUE,SOUNDS CLEANER THAN MY uk2009 pressing, more air around instruments, more cut to the sound of guitars, just purer in sound,in cd terms from standard cd to shm,its like going from cd layer on sacd to sacd, its hard to define a percentage in sound, but a 10-15 percent improvement I feel, using,Naim amp,new type,Martin logan Panel speakers,Pioneer SACD, and QUAD CD,Players, Silver cables/screened Chord spks cable, interconect, silver QED.Also Krell amp as well, hardly low-fi !!BUY THIS CD,ITS BRILLIANT.
I own all not the 2009 Beatles remasters on CD. They all sounded excellent to me except for Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Don't get me wrong , the 2009 remaster are all excellent sounding but this 2014 of version of S.P. takes the sound to another level for this 1 album. I have not heard the rest of them. I will be getting ABBEY ROAD just to see [hear it]. While the 2009 version could have been a little cleaner and clearer the 2014 version is just perfect. It is also just a little louder. The I would compare the vast sound improvement to the difference between the GENESIS 2007 / 08 remasters to the fantastic sounding 2013 [ordinal] GENESIS SHM-CD remasters. So if you want to hear this classic album at it's absolute best get the 2014 Sargent Peppers SHM-CD. It is worth every yen.
