better than the sacd. amazing sound. although mercury has left the building, you can now have him in your room, until you have to leave the building and try to find Freddie in heaven. phil
A Night At The Opera [Hi-Res CD (MQA x UHQCD)] [Limited Release] Customer Reviews
Queen
In comparison to the High Fidelity Blu-Ray Audio version of this album I would say this is the easier listen.
I compare this version to the a)SHM-SACD(UIGY-9513)as well as b)Platinum-SHM-CD (UICY-40006/UICY-75767). All versions use the 2011 remaster. So I think it's possible to compare these. As these are high quality discs, we're talking about high level differences. The Platinum -SHM (b) is a great step up from the previous issues, regarding the resolution and overall sound quality. When it comes to separation and space the SHM-SACD (a) is another story, obviously. The MQA-CD is to my ears [and played back with the possibility to decode the MQA (as the OPPO UDP-205)] the top of the list in resolution, separation and space as well as "black" background. Let's hope for an growing MQA-CD catalogue-- may be with some YES - gems??
since the original master tapes was not used in the new mqa-cd format. i compared it to my shm-platinum which was remastered in 2011 flat transfer. both sound great. if you want more life like drums and bass. this one's for you. To get the most of your sound quality. you do need the hardware/software to hear the dsd master which i'm sure sounds a lot better in hi-res. just wish i had it.
After listening to 11 of these new format CD's last night. I have only a few words to describe these discs. Wow! Stunning, and Amazing. While some sounded better than others I highly recommend the listening experience. This Queen, A night at the Opera was one of the best ones, but all of them were Great!
