Already being a huge fan of Hikaru Utada and her material I thought that Deep River would be another fantastic album, but oh my, the result was something I never expected. This is possibly the greatest album I have ever listened to. Every single song flows through you and you can truly enjoy each beat, lyric, melody and note of Utada's voice. Deep River while still a pop album, it is experimental. You can tell by the opening track SAKURA Drops and its "other worldly" sound, and down to Letters oriental inspiration. All of the songs still have their unique sound but they can reach out to any kind of music fan. My personal favourites are traveling TOKYO NIGHTS, FINAL DISTANCE, A Seemingly False I Love You and Hikari. Pure brilliance, any music fan should add this album to their collection, they will not regret it at all.

Hikaru Utada
One of my favorite albums from her. I really loved some of the album tracks such as Uso Mitaina I Love You, Deep River, and Tokyo Nights. She really does a great job composing each album track. It's got a good blend of different pop songs. Of course, who could forget Hikari? This album should be bought just because that song appears on it. Highly recommended to any fan of J-pop.
"Deep River" is my favourite Album of the J-Pop Star Hikaru Utada. All Tracks one this Hit-CD are awesome and delicious for the Ears. Her Voice take everyone in a another World. It starts with the beautiful "Sakura Drops" and it ends with the Kingdom Hearts PS2-Theme "Hikari". Between that two Songs you found great Tracks like "Play Ball", "A.S.A.P" or "Tokyo Nights". But that are onle a few of all this wonderful Tracks... For all Hikki-Fans and Lovers => Buy! For all Hikki-Beginners => Buy too!

This album is one of my favorite CD of Hikki, if I had to choose one.All the songs are enjoyable to the last! a must have for Hikki fans, just like me!
All the songs on this album are excellent... ! Utada Hikaru sure has a lot of talent... ! 1.SAKURA Drops -> One of her best songs for sure! The lyrics are very sweet and touching, and I think the melody fits them perfectly! 2.traveling -> Another song that I really like, the beat is very catchy, and I especially like the beginning and the chorus. 3.Shiawase ni narou -> A R&B-pop song, which is very good, too. I especially like the chorus. The music is very good as well. 4.Deep River -> An amazing ballad, the tempo is pretty slow, and it is simply beautiful! 5.Letters -> Reminds me a bit of Hawaiian music... ! I like it, though! Especially the last verses she sings in English. 6.Play Ball -> Very catchy too, I like the lyrics a lot ! It has a strong R&B feel, too. 7.Tokyo Nights -> Very addicting... ! The music has something that appeals me a lot. The chorus is especially very good. 8.A.S.A.P. -> This song is not my favorite one, but it is still good! 9.Uso Mitai na -> Probably my favorite track on this CD! 10.FINAL DISTANCE -> One of my favorite Utada Hikaru's songs... ! 12.Hikari -> A very good song, with powerful lyrics and melody. Another addicting song.
For me, this is Hikaru Utada's best album and conatains some of her best songs like Sakura Drops and Hikari. Alot of Hiki's songs are sentimental and only enhance how beautiful her voice is. This is probably one of the all time best J-Pop albums ever made so I would hurry up and get it before it goes out of print like a lot of her other stuff.
This CD was my first real J-POP album, not counting little albums like Inuyasha CDs and anime soundtracks of the sort. This was my first non themed album, if that makes sense. lol. This Album is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I can't wait to get more of her albums. Utada Hikaru is my fav. singer out of all my "foreign" singers ^_^ Anyone without this album is missing a lot!
How is there not a review for this fantastic album already? Deep River was my first jpop album and became my favourite album of all time. It opens with Sakura Drops (not only my favourite Hikki song, but my favourite song of all time). It's hard to describe SD, it's one of those songs that takes you off to another world. Everything is perfect in this song, the simple melody, Hikaru's vocals, her light breathing in the background, the way it builds to a slightly dramatic end. Compared to her first 2 albums, there's barely any R&B songs on here at all - in fact there's only 1. But luckily Play Ball is one Hikki's best (up there with Automatic) and features a great electric guitar solo. There are many genres on this album from the uplifting Travelling, to the more laid back Shiawase ni narou & Letters. Another standout track is Deep River - a simple but very soothing song. Then there's Hikari (the japanese version of S&C). I could review all the songs, but there's so much to say about them, I'd run out of space. This is one album you can repeat over and over without getting sick of. If you're buying this then definately checkout UH3+ which contains all the beautiful videoss.
