The first thing that struck me with GLASS SKIN was how complex it was. I had to listen to it several times to truly grasp it's depth, but it was never a case of me finding it hard to love the song which I did instantly. It still amazes me of all the hard work you hear from the band when performing this song. With the previous single, they not only re-recorded an old song, but reworked it completely. This time, undecided has only been adapted into a more unplugged kind of sound which suits the song perfectly and makes it far more haunting and beautiful than the original recording. It amuses me how so many people are disturbed by AGITATED SCREAMS OF MAGGOTS -UNPLUGGED- as I couldn't stop laughing the first time I heard it. It's just too awesome to be true! Besides, I consider this more a little nice bonus than something that's meant to be taken too seriously. The limited edition also includes a live recording of RYOUJOKU NO AME in amazing quality! The performance itself is incredible and only makes this already excellent single release even better! GLASS SKIN is incredible, and could very well be their most emotional single ever (and that's saying quite a lot!) With three extra tracks that are all great, this is one awesome release!

Dir en grey
Another amazing single by Dir en grey, I am so glad I got this single, highly recommended ^^ The song is really good, I'm glad Kyo is singing like this ^^
A real interesting change made for the band after Marrow of the Bone and sort of a sigh of relief for myself. I loved Marrow but I could feel the tension of the band's ends and this time period to sort of go in a direction sounded almost therapeutic. Wouldn't think that for Dir en grey but was a real plus.
I really love this song. It really says something to me, I identify with it alot, somehow. Agitated is one of my top songs. I like Ryojoku, but this performance doesn't do much for me. I can't really "hear" Kyo's voice.
In my opinion the best single of diru. I love Glass Skin theme, and the bonus songs (Agitated unplugged & Ryujoku no ame Live) it's awesome
I'm very happy with this purchase, especially with the bonus track Ryojoku no Ame Glass Skin is something very different compaired to Dir en grey's MOAB, but I really enjoyed it.
Dir en grey continues to impress with this new single. Glass skin was amazing. I have to say I was excited to hear Agitated Screams Of Magggots -unplugged- And the Live of Ryojoku no Ame didnt let me down either.
Truly an amazing CD! Kyo gave his heart out on the vocals and seeing him play ASOM -unplugged- in ATL was truly remarkable. Good job Kyo, Kaoru, Die, Toshiya, and Shinya. You and always will be my favorite band. I give this CD five stars!
This single reminded me of all the good stuff Dir en grey is made of. Hearing Kyo's voice actually sing again was blissful to my ears. While I did like their heavier, screm-o stuff this is the true DEG that I admire and love. The song is excellent. It's full of emotion, it makes your heart swell and Kyo's vocals are so dramatic yet peaceful. The un-plugged version of Aggitated Screams of Maggots.... it's weird. That's all I can say about it. Just listen to it. As for the rest I would definitely recomend Glass Skin to anyone who loves DEG and to those who have never listened to them before.
this is The last single from Dir en grey to date I love it. The principal song is so cool. The B-sides are so gorgeous too. Great CD!!!!!
I was really surprised to hear a unusually quiet Dir en grey song. But I was not disappointed. They once more showed that they can still surprise after their years in music business.
An excellent follow up to 'Dozing Green'! 'Glass Skin' takes an even larger step away from that of of 'Marrow of a Bone' with a generally quiet song played beautifully with skilled guitar work, a bass line that you can actually hear and outstanding drum playing and of course, Kyo's beautiful singing voice. The 'Undecided' re-recording is just as soothing and calm as 'Glass Skin' with its exceptional accoustic guitar work and again calm vocals. When I first heard 'Agitated Screams Of Maggots -unplugged-' I hated it to be honest, I had never heard anything so disgustingly bad before... BUT I have to say after a few listens it has grown on me, I am starting to put up with it. But the fact is, it still should never have gotten past the planning stage as it completly destroys the mood of this single and not to mention destroys one of 'MOAB's' only decent songs. And as for the 'Ryujoku no Ame [live]', It blew me away! It reminded me of when I seen Diru live in Oxford UK a year ago. Definitly the best version of the song I have ever heard! Overall a brilliant single (if you can get past 'ASOM-unplugged-') that just adds to the tension of the wait for 'UROBOROS'!! CAN'T WAIT!! Oh yeh, the sticker and poster rocked! :D
Ever since RYOUJOKU NO AME came out in July of 2006, I've been buying pretty much every CD that Dir en grey has come out with (the one exception being the Roadrunners CD). Their last single, DOZING GREEN, was great, and it's b-side, HYDRA -666-, was also good. That being said, GLASS SKIN is a great single. I was expecting a repeat of the style found on THE MARROW OF A BONE and was gladly surprised; instead of thrashing guitars and excruciating screams, the A-side features a beautiful piano melody, soft crooning, haunting guitar work by Kaoru and Die, very hi-hat based percussion by Shinya, and, gasp!, audible bass by Toshiya (also, I swear I can hear an echoing GarageBand loop in the background of the second half of the song). I was skeptic of the rerecording of undecided, which is one of the highlights of the album kisou (IMO). The rerecording, I feel, surpasses the original, which I thought couldn't be done: it's acoustic and has a more intimate feel to it, reminiscent of (at least I think) the album Still by Nine Inch Nails. One thing that I feel is missing from the rerecording, though, is the nice, tranquil "guitar solo" that begins about two minutes into the original. As for AGITATED SCREAMS OF MAGGOTS -UNPLUGGED-... I haven't heard a song by Dir en grey this horrible since Pink Kiler (and that's saying something). I can only imagine that this was recorded as a practical joke to the fans. This is the only downside of the single, and, of course, I skip it every time it comes on. Finally, the RYOUJOKU NO AME live: it's good. I'd grown fond of the version found on the Family Values Tour 2006 CD, but this one surpasses it, as it doesn't have the high-pitched vocals that are found on the single version of it. As for the actual look of the single and the poster: I love the poster and I think it's great (especially Kaoru's "OMG I WEAR GLASSES CUZ I MAKE SERIOUS MUSICZ" look). The look of the CD is nice and simplistic, and I like the sticker that came with it. The cardboard sleeve feels nice, but the overall artwork for the single isn't that good (says me). All in all, I think that GLASS SKIN is a perfect single by a band that's just getting better as time goes by. I can't wait for the album UROBOROS to come out, as I hope it further displays Dir en grey's musical growth.
This single was really beautiful, I can't wait to listen to their new album. I am really interested in how their other songs are going to sound.
I've been a HUGE fan of Dir en grey for almost 5 years now! And all I can say is like DOZING GREEN, GLASS SKIN is an amazing addition to the Dir en grey list! What really got to me was the fact that I could NEVER for the world imagine what AGITATED SCREAMS OF MAGGOTS would sound like unplugged, but what I heard was amazing! It sounds to me like something from an angry Tim Burton film. And undecided was re-done with no flaws at all! GET THIS SINGLE PERIOD!!!!
Amazing! its truely a great single! =D Dir en grey are the best, I can't wait for their album UROBOROS!!
Glass Skin has to be one of there best songs hands down :) its a lot different then there other recent stuff, very mellow. Kyos vocals are crisp and clear and the music is very beautiful. The Undecided remix is good, but I must say I like the original much better. Its still very pretty and definetly one of there more mellow; you could even say easy listening, songs. Aggitated Screams of Maggots Unpluged...putting it nicely, it disgusts me. If this was the first song I ever hear from them, I would never listen to them again. Its nothing but horrid screaming. I cant understand why they thought this was a good idea. The music for it on the other hand is lovely, very haunting. And the live Ryojoku no Ame is excellent, one of the best live tracks out there!
Glass Skin is amazing. It's beautiful. Undecided is perfect. Nothing can replace the original but I love it just as much. ASoM -unplugged- is very very interesting.. It grows on you though.
Having to wait nearly a year to see where Dir en grey was taking us next was surely a grueling process. However, this certainly makes up for the wait. I have listened to Dir en grey for along time now. I started listening before around the Vulgar era. I have purchased all of their albums and I am blown away by how diverse the band is. I am proud to say that I had become so accustomed to Kyo's screamo style that the regression to their roots with Glass Skin was a bit of a surprise to me. It caught me off guard in a way. But I am happy to see them change, hearing the same thing over and over again can get tiring. This does more than just take resonate the KISOU era, but it takes us beyond! After listening to Glass Skin many many times I have realized how addicting the song is. The lyrics are as always very poetic and intriguing. The song is deeply thought out and very well produced. Undecided's remake shows off the band's talent and certainly is an amazing remake of an already remarkable song. In honesty I wasn't crazy for Agitated but Ryojoku is one of the best recorded lives. All in all, this is a must listen/must have. I am really looking forward to see how Uroboros has turned out.
Do not hesitate on buying this single. All 4 tracks are amazing. GLASS SKIN is a beautiful track and very addicting. It also has the most catchy chorus of any Dir en grey track. This song will be stuck in your head for a long time, I can guarantee it. The remake of undecided seems to flow more than the original. I'm not going to compare them because this version is quite different but I'm very impressed with it. It's soothing and a lovely song. Die and Kaoru outdid themselves on the acoustic guitars, well done guys! Agitated Screams unplugged is basically spooky piano and Kyo's incredible psycho screaming. If you're into experimental stuff and have an open mind about music, this won't disappoint. It's not for everyone, but personally I loved this track from the start. Ryoujoku no Ame is the best live b-side Dir en grey have released! It will remind you how good this song is. In closing, this single is simply amazing. And the bonus poster (+ sticker) is great!
