Back to the core and much more 5

Kagrra, are one of the few bands that are special to me, and this album proves more so. Though this record is less heavy than their early works, the Kagrra, guys have matured tremendously when producing songs- they have widen their horizons and are now truly the masters of combining tribal/ japanese folk sounds with rock/pop and other influences. They experimented a lot for this album, with almost every song giving off a different feel. All songs however, still retain the Kagrra-ish quality to them. I would give this album a 4/5, but with Irodori no Sanka and Boukyaku no Hate no Kogoeta Kodoku being on the album, 4/5 is not enough. Kagrra, always had a knack of creating beautiful melodies, and for Irodori no Sanka and Boukyaku no Hate no Kogoeta Kodoku, it's no exception. Irodori no Sanka has this majestic melody that is repeated and echoed throughout the song by the strings and guitars- beautiful. Kudos to Isshi for the lyrics as well- one of the most profound lyrics ever, IMO. Boukyaku no Hate no Kogoeta Kodoku on the other hand manages to be melancholic and sad without being too obvious/ in your face, which I think is a lost art. (Most other bands seem to diverge clearly between despair/ hope songs, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Kagrra, here, however offers a fresh direction). Other songs worth mentioning are no Ujou (groovy with an awesome intro to the guitar break), Shigatsu Tsuitachi, Kamikaze, Yuki Koi Uta and Shin-Hyakkiyakou (I loved the original and this remake. What an amazing psychotic jazzy mood to this song!) Overall, a very nice cd, with many sounds on it. This limited edition one comes with the PV to Irodori no Sanka, which is a lovely PV- one of their best, IMO. The 'YouTube' version does this PV injustice, really.

Amazing! 5

Wow! This album really amazed me! I've bought this album a couple of days before I went to their concert in Utrecht -the Netherlands-. Most of the songs were from Core, but there were also songs like Utakata and Urei. I like them all actually.. San is great to, but Core is really amazing. Shigatsu Tsuitachi is my fav song. ^^

Kagrra,'s latest.. 5

Hmm.. I don't really know what should I say. Every Kagrra's album are different from each other, but there is always that little 'kagrra' feeling in them. :] My all-time favourite is their ~san~, but CORE is a very wonderful album also. n_n PS. If you do live outside of Europa, I succest you do change your dvd-player code free, if possible? Or either watch it on computer that haves a musicprogram on it that does play every dvd no matter of the region.

Kagrra is amazing!!! 5

Kagrra just gets better and better! This CD fulfilled all my expectations. It's the first CD my oldest daughter chooses every time and I have to applaud her choice! Now if they would just come to Florida...Taste of Chaos, Warp Tour, Family Values Tour...I'm just saying...

Better than Shizuku 4

I'm a fan of ancient Kagrra; Nue, Irodori, Kirameki etc. Having said that I follow them regardless of how their style changes, but I really didn't like Shizuku all that much. Core I feel puts them on form again, at least in regards to their later career with a nice new look on Neo Japanesque

Refreshng album 4

A refreshing album. Pretty short though. Just when I thought the album was approaching a climax everything ended. The album has a more neo-japanesque feel than the previous one(Shizuku). However it isn't as pronounced as the older album. However its still a good listen nontheless.

A nice improvement 4

While it's very difficult to surpass the near perfection that was ~san~, fans weren't asking for too much when we wanted something a bit catchier than Shizuku. CORE is that improvement, and it's nice to hear the new quality in Isshi's voice. The songs on this album stand out amidst each other, and one isn't left thinking that they've just listened to a 50-minute song, as was the case with Shizuku.

Graceful Kagrra, 5

I love this album. It's refreshing to listen to this album from the first time I heard kagrra. The band still gave me a kind of "graceful" feeling in their music style and that's what makes them so great. This is the first rock band with a visual style that I know whose music is not so heavy and uses strings in their music. Plus, isshi's wide vocal range. My personal favorites from CORE are: track 1. Irodori no Sanka track 3. Shigatsu Tsuitachi track 5. Bokyaku no Hate no Kogoeta Kodoku track 7. Kaze no Kioku track 8. Kamikaze track 9. Yuki Koi Uta I hope their coming concerts in march will do well. Kaggra, banzai!

Gorgeous and melodic 5

Although this feels like a departure for Kagrra, when listened to against albums like San and Miyako. Core is still a beautiful album with notiable tracks and the essence of Kagrra,. Kagrra, have still maintained a sense of Japanese tradition in their music, dreamy melodies and beautiful lyrics. Definitely something a fan should grab!

Core 4

There were many doubts with Kagrra,'s change of labels and the sudden "English" title (Core). But don't let first impressions judge, as Core captures Kagrra,'s style and doesn't disappoint. What is a bit disappointing is the DVD that comes with the CD. It's region coded and doesn't work on US dvd players and is only the music video to Irodori No Sanka, which is disappointing, as I thought the DVD had more features (CD Japan's description says this, but I did not read closely). Buying the CD is well worth the money. Buying the Limited Edition CD is only needed if you are a die hard fan of Kagrra,.

Back to the CORE 5

I feel deeply in love with all songs in this album, and it's not easy to describe it. I have this excitement since the day I pre-ordered this album, until now. I'm really thrilled especially because Kagrra, has brought their neo japanesque root back into brilliant songs. However, those songs still sound really fresh. Actually, they have already proved their bright ideas with the new sound improvement in the previous album "Shizuku"; but "Core" is an even greater evidence that Kagrra, is really able to combine two different items--heaven and earth--into one great magnificent music empire. So I guess this album is even a lot better than "Shizuku". "Irodori No Sanka" is a very beautiful opening, delivering you into the neo japanesque realm. There're also songs like "Sai" and "Shin.Hyakkiyakou" that make you feel nostalgic yet fresh at the same time. The other songs will simply make you realize how rich this album is. If you're a complete fan of Kagrra,, limited edition CD would be always a good choice.
