Actually, it was "Volcano" that got me into Girugamesh. I managed to get my paws on their older tracks (Goku and singles), and I went out and got this album as well. It's pretty good, powerful aggressive j-rock with enough melodic parts in them, mingled with a bit of nu-metal/hardcore. Visual-wise they're not flamboyant or colourful, but they look pretty dark in those suits with that make-up. <3 Definately a band I'm going to follow.

Though I've never been a fan of the intro.'s to most CD's the first song isn't what counts. It's the CD itself. I would have to say that Girugamesh is one of the best bands I've heard in a while. Musically speaking they have done amazingly well! They have harder songs that you can scream along to, yet they still have smooth chorus's, and regardless of how much they scream the lyrics are astonishingly clear. The best hard songs on this album are by far: Jarring fly and ROBUST CONVICTION, and for the softer scale, Ame to Fukosha (Rain and Death), and Fukai no Yami. The lyrics of Ame to Fukosha in particular are amazing! It was one of the more challenging songs off the album to translate because of the depth of the meanings in the song. So in short, or if you just saw the caps and didn't feel like reading my entire review: BUY THIS CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome album from start to finish. I can listen to it over and over and I do quite frequently. If you don't already own this album BUY IT NOW! You will not be disappointed. Best track on this album for me is Owari to Mirai followed closely by Jarring Fly. The only track I don't like would have to be the intro track #13 that really isn't even a song just some noises/effects. The other 12 songs are solid listening.
I would rate this a 10 if I could. Girugamesh is AWESOME. Satoshi has a unique and beautiful voice and the music itself is incredible as well. As heavy as it is, you just want to sing along. :) I would recommend this album and this band to anyone and everyone who likes rock. If you haven't heard them, I'd highly suggest looking up the video for Owari to Mirai on YouTube-you will instantly want this album!
I hadn't heard a lot of their songs when I bought this cd, but I was pleasantly surprised! They're a really good band with a awesome sound. Definitaly a good-buy for Jrock fans.
This is one of the albums of the year and no mistake. The perfect balance of melody and metallic aggression, with songs you just keep coming back to, not a single dud on the whole record. The guitar tone is biting and sharp and the whole thing sounds really heavy and yet clear as a bell. If you are a heavy rock fan you need this.
After hearing to "Goku" I had greatest expections on Gilgamesh full album and I can say I'm fully satisfied. Gilgamesh didn't rely on the nu-metal influenced sound of the past releases but tried something new, adding some melodies in guitar riffs, slow and mellow songs just makes this album great for every fan and non.
I finally got to listen to this entire Album and I was shocked. Even though it is not as powerful as some of their earlier works. 13 reborn is an excellent album for anyone who is into any sort of off set band. Visual Kei, hardcore, whatever you want to call this band. They are definatley worth every penny! I also suggest checking out DeathGaze if you want something harder. I see Girugamesh becoming the next DESPA or Even X Japan. ok, enough reading...BUY IT ALREADY!
I definately agree with what Tokio says. With the same feeling, I was hoping Giru was able to make something such as [Goku] and have the own invidual taste. Once I heard the album, there wasn't really anything that really caught my eye. However, there are a few songs that I completely got into which was NOT but songs such as Shadan and Moja no Koshin. I hope that even though it was sort of a let down, that Giru will be able to great better music next time.
This album was a complete and total let down. When taken on it's own, the album is decent, slightly above mediocre. However, in comparison to Girugamesh's previous releases, this album is easily the worst thing they've ever released. There's nothing particularly noteworthy about the album, only a one or two songs being memerable at all (especially jarring fly, which was definitely the best song on the album.) The majority of the album is boring and there's a huge off feeling to the entire thing. I was hoping this album would be another Goku, which was amazing. Each song unique, and completely consuming. Nothing bad about any of them. But, it just isn't. Like I said though, taken away from Girugamesh's previous discography, this album isn't that bad, which is why it gets a three.
I'm hoping that Girugamesh lasts for a long while, because they're amazing. Buying this album was no mistake, I promise you that.
13's Reborn is far and away this year's best J-rock album, and whats more, I honestly can't think of any better j-rock album I've heard to date. Every serious j-rock fan owes it to themself to experience this superb specimen of everything VK j-rock is supposed to be. Product reviews don't offer a rating that expresses how awesome it is, so I'll settle for fiving it.
I'm amazed in how perfect this album is. All the songs are so good. I only one little complaint though, songs should be longer than 4 min. Anyways this is must get for Visual Kei fans or any Jrock fans. If you like Dir en grey, then you will like this without a doubt. For a band who started in 2004 I sense a major growing popularity coming.
