Bought this brush because of all the good reviews it got. But I don't think it is as soft as everyone says. And it is stiff. Not hard. Stiff. Too big to use under the eyes. I use it only in the outer V. I like Koyudo C-011 better.
R-S4 Eye Shadow Brush / Chikuhodo Regular Series Black Customer Reviews
Makeup Brush
I love this brush! It's my favorite brush for applying shadow to the outer "V". It's similar to Chikuhodo Artist Series 10-1, but more tapered, which makes it more precise. I find that it has the perfect density, length, and firmness for the outer corner of the eye. I have been looking for the perfect brush for the outer "V" for a while, but once I found this one, I am no longer looking!
I love pencil brushes and this one is in my top 3! Perfect for blending pencil eyeliner easily and very soft to the eyelids. Its the perfect rounded shape and a great dupe for the Suqqu S if you couldnt get your hands on it. Love it to pieces!
It is the amazing pencil brush for detail work. it is Soft and doesn't hurt your eyes No harsh lines or pokey bristles. I use it for lower lash line and inner highlight work. It makes my eyeshadows easy to work with using such an excellent brush.
The RS4 is a nice brush and it is soft but firmer than expected, probably due to the squirrel blend with weasel. I do feel the koyudo C011 is softer and rounder & the goat hair blends pigment just a bit better. Like the other reviewer mentioned, the RS4 is more tapered to a point & can achieve better precision. I feel this works great for smoky eyes & intense colors in the crease.
I expected this type of softness, as all Japanese squirrel brushes feel like delicate silk fibers, but i didn't expect precision. Hair length is optimal both for applying color in particular small areas and for blending. Of course, it's not made for creating extremely sharp lines, but it definitely has enough precision to be called a pencil brush.
The R-S4 is a big pencil brush in that the crown is not rounded but rather tapers to a nice point. I can use it to highlight the inner corners of the eyes, for creating a smoky eye. Great useful tool for precision work around the crease
