![]() Toto's new album "Falling In Between" is coming next February, with an advanced Japanese release on January 25 2005. We've got the heads up on Toto and just what to expect from one of the longest living groups in rock and roll. Early press reports are coming in, and the reviews are outstanding. Tommy Denander, the guitar mastermind behind Radioactive (who's upcoming record "Taken" sports a guest performance from Toto's guitarist and vocalist Steve Lukather) calls it the "greatest album I've heard in more than 15 years. [ . . . ] I haven't been floored by music in so long that I had forgotten how great that feeling is." Toto home page toto99.com webmaster Steve McVey's preview leads with praise completely unprintable (but accessible here) and glowing (and regardless of the nature of the site, the review is fairly balanced). The buzz around this album has been massive, and all signs point to it being warranted. So what lurks "In Between"? The new album is set to includes ten tracks not including the bonus tracks featured on the Japanese release. Band line-up includes Steve Lukather on guitar and vocals, David Paich on keyboards and vocals, Greg Phillinganes also on keyboard and vocals, Mike Porcaro on bass, Simon Phillips on drums, and Bobby Kimball on vocals with guest appearances from former band members Joseph Williams and Steve Porcaro as well as Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull and the horn section from Chicago. The early stand out track amongst reviewers is "Bottom Of Your Soul," coming in at over seven minutes and described by nearly everyone as the successor to Toto classic "Africa." Comments from Steve Lukather indicate that this may be the first single off the album. Don't get caught in the balance, order the advanced Japanese release of "Falling In Between" now. For those of you looking for more from this great band, check out the reissues of classic albums "Toto," "Hydra," "Turn Back," and "Toto IV" - all featuring recent DSD remastering - coming December 21. There's also a low-priced ballad compilation "Best Ballads" coming just early of the album on January 18. Catch Toto live on their tour in 2006! |
