During their days with an independent label, Psycho le Cemu's concert tickets
were said to be one of the hardest to come by. Nearly 2 years since their
major-label debut on Nippon Crown, not much has changed in terms of low
ticket availability. The reason surely has nothing to do with the band's
lack of concert performances as their typically Japanese, rather workaholic
schedule show. But that's as far as it goes when it comes to "typically
Japanese" with these highly photogenic (not to mention uber-skinny!) guys.
What sets the "Visual Rock" band apart from the rest of the pack is the
way they engineer startling full-body transformations with costumes and
makeup; a tradition they have maintained since the five members first
came together in 1999. One look at any of their zestful album covers will
tell you these guys are truly into the gig; it's not just a for-marketing-purposes
act. Their look simply cannot be described as "Gothic" or any one word
for that matter. Psycho le Cemu's costume concept has previously been
"Past, Present, and Future", but their new theme is anybody's guess, and
everybody's expectation. Whatever it may turn out to be, no doubt the
fans will lavish it in no time, and the venues will be swarming with fans
wearing replica costumes. It doesn't hurt that the costumes can easily
be bought from various "Costume Play" web sites and shops either.
Many fans describe them as "beautiful" and once you get over the initial
shock (and maybe even disgust in some cases) one is very likely to see
their distinctiveness and humor. Their concert performances won't let
you down when it comes to playing with humor and irony. They are known
for their many interactions with the fans, and Psycho le Cemu has also
given Fan Club Members-Only Concerts in Japan.
Their record label, Sweet Child, is shared with other celebrated acts
such as Luna Sea, La'cryma Christi, and Pierrot, to name a few. This year,
from May to June, they performed abroad for the first time in California
and Texas, and gained outstanding reviews and more fans abroad.
