Alps no Shojo Heidi (Heidi: Girl of the Alps) (TV Series,1974)

Based on the classic story that portrays the lives of people who live in the grand Alps. It centers on Heidi who loves the nature and Klara Sesemann who has disabled legs. Hayao Miyazaki worked on layouts for all cuts for the entire series. It was aired in many countries including Europe where it was highly acclaimed. Miyazaki's once mentor, now his Ghibli partner Isao Takahata directed it.
