Description

[Machine Translation] A film commemorating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam. This is a human love story about a woman who has lost her dream and a young Vietnamese man who is chasing his dream, who meet as if guided by fate, are naturally attracted to each other, and then transcend national borders to pursue their love. The heroine, Aimi, is played by Ito Ono, who starred in "High School Debut" and has appeared in many high-profile films, including "The Woman in the Rain" and "TANIZAKI TRIBUTE/DEVIL. The Vietnamese man Koa, who is in love with Aimi, is played by Morisaki Win, a rising star who won the lead role in Steven Spielberg's "Ready Player 1" by audition. The director is Yuji Makino, a native of Okinawa who has worked on commercials and short films, and this film marks his feature film debut. --Autumn, 2007. Aimi leaves Tokyo and moves in with her sick aunt who lives in Okinawa. A young Vietnamese man, Koa, spots her on the observation deck staring at a strange family and stops in his tracks. Ai starts work at the travel agency where she has found employment, and together with her senior colleague Keiko, Ai goes to Azana, an IT company. There they find the president of the company, Taira, a Taiwanese trainee named Yang, and Koa. At Keiko's invitation, Ai meets the three Azana employees at a tavern. Koa says that he wants to make the town and people of Vietnam more affluent, and when asked about her dream, Ai says, "I want to see the breaching of the whale again, which I remember from my childhood. On the way home, Koa and his family drop her off, and Ai hears from Koa that "Vietnam's birthday is a ceremony to express the greatest gratitude for one's birth, and to convey that gratitude to the people one cares about. Ai's face turns cloudy. In fact, Ai's birthday is the day of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, on which she lost her mother...
